PST suspension rebuild kit, sway bars and biggest MP torsion bars you can find. An old car feels like an old car unless it handles like a new one. Nothing more fun than tossing the dart through a typical tight 90 degree corner at 60km (36MPH) without hitting the brakes. Something that would surely be scraping door handles on the road before this. Enginewise, the last $1000 bucks I really enjoyed was the new Intake. Just a $200 weiand tunnel ram (converted to EFI of course), but damn that sucker looks like it means business under the hood. And I'm about to find out if my junk yard cobbled Hydroboost system (less than $500 canadian total) will make this car stand on it's nose when I hit the brakes. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/zbhansen/temp/DartNewMotorInstalled.JPGGreg

As mentioned above, a grand doesn't go far these days!!
On my Challenger, I got every penny out of the 1250$ I paid for that set of Edelbrock Performer RPM's 8 or 9 years ago, huge improvement over the cracked, wore out, overported 906's and 915's I was using previously. I'd also say I've really enjoyed the 1105$ I laid out for my Bogart racing D-6 wheels. Had 'em on the car for 3 years, and I'm still the only guy with them at any race I've attended..lots of compliments!!
On the Valiant, The first thing I upgraded when I re-did the car was the 904, I replaced the ancient blanket with a CSR Carbon shield, and put in a Griner Pro-Tree, LBA brake, and a Cheetah Shifter. Again, a little more than a grand, but well worth it.

thanks for all the replies. i think im stuck on spending the money on new exhaust or suspension to make it handle. just in case anyone is curious its a 72 cuda, 416 home ported heads etc. , 4 speed, 3.23 gears
OKAY, so it's your typical street/strip kinda ride. If it were me, I'd start shopping around & start looking for a good shifter (200 or so), gears (say 400 if you don't install 'em yourself)upgrade the suspension ( surly you can do that yourself, so say 300) frame conectors (around here I can get 'em done for about 300) & upgrade the braking ( a simple upgrade in pads/shoes is only about 150). that should round out your expenses & kinda keep the car "balanced" while you can still use it. While it's a tad over budget, I think you can see where I was going & adjust accordingly. Of course if you do all the work yourself, my price estimates are waaaaay off, so go have fun!
