do check for slack in the throttle cable as suggested wink

It was the throttle cable. I went out at 6:30 am this morning and looked at the throttle blades. the fronts were closed but the back ones were open a bit. As soon as I took the cable off the back blades went shut! I will adjust the cable later,don't want to piss the neighbors off! Thanks for everyone's help!! Ted wave

Something still not right, as cable opens front blades and the secondary opened by the linkage and flex spring after the front open. Unless cable was interfering with secondary operation.

I had to change the bracket from a Holley to an Edelbrock. I looked at the throttle cable bracket and there is about a 1/4" difference in the length of the cable. I will adjust it and see what happens.

I guess you did not read my first post whistling 1500rpm is way too high for a vacuum leak to cause. I questioned actual throttle blade position on my first post wink But it does show how a group can be drawn down a rabbit hole.
