Did Chysler assembly plants ever paint engines a different color on export cars? I'm looking at a 69 Dart Swinger 340 car built for export to Canada with very low miles on it, and the 340 engine is painted street hemi orange not turquoise. Anyone know? Thanks.

To my limited knowledge they were turquoise for the majority of them (69, 340) regardless if they were exported to Canada. I've owned
several 69 swingers starting in the '70's and they were all turquoise. That said I do believe near the end of model year production some
engines may have been a shade of blue that is sometimes referred to as "corporate blue". That has been discussed and argued here in
depth before with no defined outcome . Never seen a factory orange block in 69. 68 was red. Just my opinion based on old distorted
memory. Good luck with your research and possible purchase.

Sometine in the last 50 years someone probably painted it because they liked orange better or thsts what they had on hand while they were doing some work on it.

[quote=5thAve]Sometine in the last 50 years someone probably painted it because they liked orange better or thats what they had on hand while they were doing some work on it. [/quote Thats what I'm thinking too. The car is Y2 Sunfire Yellow and appears to be very untouched in the engine bay with very few changes. I'm guessing maybe someone didn't like the color combo of the yellow body and turquoise motor, so someone changed the motor color to orange. Just thought I'd ask the question because with Chysler you never know. Thanks.

I say no and bet it is turquoise under the orange. Can you scrape at it.

The car's not mine yet. I'm looking to maybe buy it.

Hey guys, I just thought of another question. Wouldn't a 69-car built for Canada export have a speedo in kilometers and not MPH's? Thanks.

Canada never went to metric until 1975 when the clowns that ran the show then decided to do so.

And at that time, Canada used Imperial Gallons, not liters. If I remember correctly, the Imperial Gallon was bigger than a US Gallon.
