Some scoff at print magazines in the age of internet access but in the late 80s a Mopar only publication was a blessing! The 2 big magazines at the time worshipped at the altar of the 350 Chevy. Anodized colorful adjustable rocker arms and pro billet everything on those mouse motors as as far as the eyes could see!! Even for a 250hp build.

Keep old mopars alive.

He had approach me about my old 1963 Belvedere NHRA stocker at the Mopar west car club Spring Fling car show and swap meet at Woodley park back in the late 1970s or maybe in the early 1980s.
I remember the name and what he looked like but not much else other than he ended up buying and racing a Mopar in NHA stock in Division 7 for a while back then, I don't remember exactly which year and body and class he raced it in, to many years ago. angel up

Wasn't this also the time frame that Chrysler was going hard after Magazines and Companies for copyright infringements or something? Was this the magazine that had to change its name several times trying to stay ahead of Chrysler?

Dug out what I think is their best old issue..May 1990 ...With the 1970 hemi cuda..the old Captain hemi cuda from Canada that was restored and the 426 Hemi that was close to giving up the ghost back then, fortunately Dick Landys shop was able to save the hemi! penguinthe body was painted lime green and it kept its wheel tubs and narrowed rear complete with Dana 60.Very cool it's also been the lime green hemi cuda painted in lime green with black hemi hockey hemi stripe. Its also been the BF Goodrich poster banner car just with regular tires of course missing the rear wide mags. drive

Yep, and left many subscribers with worthless subscriptions.

I thought so work i remember them pushing subscriptions at a few shows offering something that ALMOST made me sign up. Was later glad I didn't wink . owning the business I subscribed to several rags to stay up on things. used to read them during lunch. it was quite depressing how many different ones ran the same articles.
I had my mid to low 12 sec, dart at the car craft Street machine Nat's in Sacramento back in 1981. Neil Britt who was one of their Photographers asked did the car really runs low 12's om just the motor? I said certainly does and showed him a stack of time slips. He said I'd love to shoot an article on but I'd get my backside chewed for wasting the film. I was like huh? he said contrary to popular belief, the magazines doesn't make money of subscriptions, they make it off advertising and our advertisers want their products on our feature cars. Yours is impressive to me, but it is too stock appearing except for the headers and centerline wheels. P'd me off. but it was factual down beer

Met Roland and Janie at the 1981 Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Pomona. It was like we had been friends since the beginning of time. Spent a lot of time with him at shows through the 1980s. Lost touch in the 1990s, but reconnected at Spring Fling several years ago. Never met Beth, though.I have contact with Roland's daughter on FB.

I met Roland in the late 80's and like Jim said above we became fast friends. The year he died he was at the Minnesota show and wanted a truck 3-speed overdrive. I found him one at the swap and he was elated! Sure he had issues with issues biggrin but was a genuinely good guy! angel

One story, more about Janie than Roland, from 1984. On Feb 3 of that year our older son was born. On Feb 4 Roland and Janie's son Coleman was born. In the middle of May we were all at the Car Craft show in Sacramento, which was all on asphalt and generally pretty hot. Janie invited Donna and our son to spend the day with her in the trailer of Roland's rig than he was selling Direct Connection parts out of. All to keep the babies out of the sun.
