The average guy isn't going to pay the $$$ for a set of CFE W8's, pure and simple. I had some 13 degree CFE W8's and Sheet metal Intake for sale at well under what they cost and they're still sitting here. A top end that makes that kind of power is going to set you back around 10K give or take. AL....
![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif) Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know if any dealers still had any W9's still on the shelf, but a year ago, when I had my Mopar dealership parts guy look for a set, he said there were a couple on the shelf yet at another dealership. The price was right around $1300 I think. Valves and springs?=$600? CNC porting=$1100, valve job=$150, hone valve guides=$75, Intake=$450?, Port intake=$100. Other little stuff that arises for good measure, $400? Grand total of $4,175. Not far form the Indy's my buddy just put on, and much more power potential. That's why I was kinda leaning that direction. Is my math way off? It's hard to justify another 6K for 150-200 more HP. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)

I ask again, why not W8's? A set of CNC ported Nascar W8's can be bought cheaper than you can do the W9's for with more power potential. Guys like Chris and Kenny that are running a n/a class can justify the cost of the CFE's but for the average bracket racer or if you're going to use a power adder the Nascar W8's will work just fine. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/Twocents.gif) Mike Gray

I wouldn't consider a W-9 until the supply of used W-8s have dried up. Cheaper with more potential.

I've just gone to the 270cc chapman alcohol W9 head from a 220cc W5. Big difference in power band. My combo was pretty much dialed for the W5s, rpm around 6800 in the 1/8th on the spray. Ive made 6 passes so far. Got to changes gears and converter for sure.went 6.80 on motor at 108.

My Demon ran High 9's and was regularly street driven. It idled nice at stoplights and had a 3.91 gear and a 10" converter. W9/R3 X 474CI It weighed 3180 with me in it.
