those are a great looking set of pipes ! a couple of things i do on any set of headers i install, i "stole" from our passed member, Mr. P-body [R.I.P.] i cut the end pipes from the middle two at the mounting flange, and drill one mounting hole on each flange segment two drill sizes larger. these simple mods dramatically increase the sealing ability of the flange, no matter how thick the flange is. this is especially true of the 1/4" and 5/16" flanges. doing this can seal any flange of any header to any head. i also use studs in the head, along with reduced head size flange nuts. doing these simple things has worked superbly for me over many years and many header installs. just my personal experience. your mileage will vary.

Can you post a pic? i have a set of headers stashed overhead in the garage rafters with this mod done. i'll see if i can get a picture or two of them without taking them down.

hopefully this picture will help explain what i like to do, cutting the flanges. i always like to contour the flanges a little for appearance, but just slicing through the flanges with a wizz wheel or hacksaw would accomplish the same objective. opening up one bolt hole a couple sizes allows for slight movement during warm up and cool down, helping the sealing of the flange.

Just heared that 25 sets of long tube headers completed. 15 sets going to coating. If your wanting a set of real long tube headers for Dakota/ Durango that have been a proven winner. You better contact www.southeastperformance.com 813-503-8069

I was told these headers developed from a 1999 Dakota R/T. So they fit 97-03 Dakota or Durango 2 wheel chassi. These were the specific performance vehicles back then everyone wanted parts for.
Some Gen 1 Dakota owners said they fit their trucks with some dimpling for clearance in certain areas.
97 Ram 1500 fits passenger side but drivers side hits all. .
No 4 x4 long tube headers. They have front differential drive unit in the way of pipes so only shorties work.
Id love to purchase a set but mine is a 1995 (2wd). If I knew for sure they would fit with a dent or two I'd buy a set. The last time I did a search about this the other forums had the same consensus- that they might fit the first gen. (Honestly Id hate taking the ball peen to these headers because they are a work of art!) But I do have a set of the first 2-year Magnum large exit diameter manifolds I will run.

I just ordered a raw finished set directly from TTI. They make the best headers I've tried them on my '70 RB 'Cuda and '68 Barracuda with a 5.9 Magnum.
I wanted them coated in mat black, so I'm having them done locally inside and out after I test fit them in a resto-mod I'm building ('57 Dodge D100 on a 2WD Dakota chassis).
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

My Son's 99 Dakato 4x4 came with a set. After I rebuilt his 360 we reinstalled them with the fresh rebuild. I don't know what brand name that are, but they are the best fitting set of headers I have installed. They go right in and on.

I hear ya, they didn't say what exactly they hit to clearance but it would be a shame to dent them up.
Yo u know with those bigger outlet manifolds, have a 2 1/2" Y pipe made at a muffler shop, connected to a 3" single pipe to muffler with dual 2 1/2" outlets and you should make some power. Yes and I do have a set of those big outlet manifolds I have blasted and painted. I will run them. I got them for $60 from an LKQ near me. Since I have these manifolds, Im skipping the shortie headers even though they look nice. Hooker 5803 super comps have been discontinued which are long tube direct fit.
Keep old mopars alive.
