It was rough to get going , going alone this time after the passing of Sandy. Then of all things, my little dog ran off Wednesday while I was distracted. Still missing. But despite that I was happy to get the car down the track three times. I always liked Brainerd internationals Friday test day, but they have turned it into another race day, running four different categories, which very much limited testing time, basically squizing it down to less than four hours . First pass, the wheelie bars were too low, car skated out to a 1.278 60 ft, had a bad miss at the top of first gear, a touch at the top of second, still ran 8.73 at 155. Second pass, I raised the wheelibars a couple inchs, inches,, worse 60 ft at 1.292,still missing at top of first gear, even though I dropped 1/2 shift rpm 200. Went 8.75, at 156.38 Third pass, I raised the wheelie bars about three inches this time. The car pulled the front wheels, headed left to the center stripe, but I rode it out and went 1.247, the fastest this car has ever gone. But it felt weird, like the car made a very short move right, the wheels and driving left. My gut feeling is I need to rescale this car, and reset wheeliebars. Also figure out the miss. I suspect it might be related to too rich a mixture/15.3 compression/plug gap combo. Density altitude was high, somewhere around 3,000 feet? Baro was 28.87 uncorrected, temp 78 degrees, 50 put humidity. Last pass Temps were up at about 82 degrees. Car scaled 2905 with driver, after the pass. So I am fairly happy to say there is more in it, maybe two tenths and three mph went you figure in the miss, the weather, and better 60 fts, once I get this combo figured out! The motor is the 549 cubic inch, 572/13 heads, alky combo that dynoed 982 hp at 7600. I had shifts set at 7500/7500 first pass, 7300/7500 second and third pass.

Good start! Has a bunch more left in it from what you are saying! I agree, due to DA, miss, traction, I will see the big performance increase I expected. Jim, hear are runs two and three . The 156.38 mph was run two.

Figuring in the best 60 ft with the fastest run for mph, the et could have been 8.709. But that was still with the miss, and the high DA. I hope to see 60 ft of 1.22 once I figure this out. On the last pass, I was partially out of the Grove and felt the car moving around, which would accout for the slower mph shown. I tried to get the idle stable in gear, but it was a problem all three runs. Once staged, the motor started to lose rpm and I had to bring up the rpm, which cost me focus on the tree creating the lousy reaction times. Looking it all over, the 127.88 mph at 660 ft,even with a miss, says a lot, I think.

Glad to hear you got out and you'll get it sorted-out pretty soon, I'm sure. Will pray that your dog returns safe soon, Thanks for sharing! Thanks, Sean. And thanks for your input too. None of this happened only on my brain power alone!

Greg, What RPM are you leaving? 1111.17 SLR, so I leave at 5000 on a 6000 stall converter Looks like a typo.? 4.56 x 2.45 = 11.17

Not a bad outing Greg. Did you go any rounds over the weekend? Any luck with the pup returning?

Glad to hear you finally got her out to the track. We dont even get another opportunity for two months. Sounds like you will have a pretty good improvement when its all dialed in. Certainly not great air.

Certainly not great air. thanks AL. I ordered an offset distributor this AM to get a larger distributor cap, which will hopefully eliminate the miss. I need to scale the car, and a few other things. I plan on being back out in three weeks .
