I remember the days when back in the 1980's on our drive to the Mopar Nationals you would see Wing Cars and 6 Pack and Hemi cars driving down the interstate on the 7 hour drive to get to the Mopar Nats.
You'd literally see caravans of the ultimate musclecars running down the highway.

Now, if they even go at all they're in an enclosed trailer.

Odds are that the people bashing the late model stuff haven't really driven one.

There's a reason that you see so much of the late model stuff at the big events these days.
You can comfortably drive a fast car and have fun at the event and not feel serious road rash when you get back home. twocents

Hard to argue with you, the current "Challenger" is more Barracuda than Challenger anyway.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

The current Challenger looks like they had an issue of the old Magazine that had the car called the Cudabeen. It was half Cuda and half Challenger

I've got a "sad mouth" '73 Gen 1 and a "but it's not really a Challenger" 2021 Gen 2... different cars from different points of time, but both still enjoyable.

Someone obviously likes to live with their head up their azz.

Why are there always more horses azzes than there are horses……

Mopar finally gave the public a cool modern car and people who claim to love Mopars just piss and moan. Go figure.

The new Challenger is a great looking Barracuda from the quarters up. But i like that some models get the AAR hood stuck on them. But why they stick a 1970 Challenger lookin grill on a Cuda os beyond me?

I remember thinking modern muscle was a little hokey and the modern charger was funny looking, it was not all that.

One very smooth ride in the back seat of an SRT8 charger at 140MPH, for around 10 minutes straight, convinced me.

And it could still stop, and turn, and act fairly normal at those speeds. And it was totally stock.

I remember thinking there was nothing special about a plain old boring 4 door 5.7 LX, wrong again, they can do damn near the same thing at only a little less MPH.

I remember thinking these big heavy boats can't handle. Then I started testing an AWD LX wagon around a 90 degree turn with no braking.
I got up to 40 MPH and couldn't take it anymore. Slightest chirp from the tires.

Then (thanks Keith) I went to the SRT track experience.
You're the one driving 140+ on a race track in a stock car with no modifications. Safely.

A vehicle is more than it's styling, but whatever styling it has reflects the way vehicles were all built during that timeframe. Just the way it is.
You want 1970 builds, you aren't going to get them with anything other than that. Stay with the old, that's the only place it exists.

I love both. Styling of both is what it is. For overall performance the new stuff wins.
The old cars had compromised styling too in different ways.

Always much more a B body person than E body anyway, so the larger newer models, even in 4 doors are a better fit for me.

Guess what as stated they're a modern version of a car that they quit building 50 years ago.
Car companies quit using chrome, stainless, anodized trim 30+ years ago.

Time to quit living in the 70's, the world moved on.
You probably still listen to nothing but 70's music too. laugh2
You've also got me wondering how long the ride was for you on that short bus.
That would explain a lot.

There's nothing wrong with the vintage stuff, but there's more than just that out there.

We've got cars from the 50's through 2010 and guess what?
The newer stuff are actually waaaay better cars.

If you don't like the newer stuff that's you prerogative, but it's you that are missing out.
They're really nice cars that are a blast to drive, which is something that people quit doing in the old stuff because all they worry about is investment value.

Yada Yada Yada: of course they're MUCH better wrt comfort, performance, etc.
That in it's self is no reason to compare them: different breeds all around.
They kept the name & certain "minor" features of the originals to Make Sales.
I'll never consider them "Muscle Cars", but rather Performance Cars.
The marketing aspects are the reasons.

You keep proving just how "special" you are. realcrazy

They've got far more muscle than the old versions of the musclecars ever had or could dream of having.
Even the V6 2023 Challenger is quicker than most of the stock 340 or 383 old Challengers.

How exactly does a new 2023 Challenger not fit in your list of what you want??????? shruggy

As far as other models, you're in a small minority wanting a two door vehicle.
Most of the vehicle buying public wants a four door these days, it's easier to load all the rug rats in.
They're not supposed to put child cars seats in the front seat and putting a baby in the back seat of a two door would be rough.

It's nothing more than transportation to those buyers.

Checked the Dodge Garage "Horsepower-locater" , updated July 28 and there is about 20 000 unordered Chargers and Challengers, of those about 2000 "basic" Hellcats and 4500 Scat Packs. There is also about in total 400 Black Ghost and King Daytona Redeyes available but that number hasn´t changed much since last week so it may be inaccurate.

This is a lot of unordered profitable (?) cars that should be sold in 3 days.
What is the reason for this lack of interest?
Has the interest for muscle cars faded and Dodge been to optimistic, have customers been scared away because of marked up prices or is Dodge Garage completely inaccurate?

I am not talking about what is available now i am talking after they stop making the Challenger. I could care less about the 4 door thing with a Charger name tag. I don't have "rugrats" or a family and if i did then i might look into a 4 door or suv. And I'm sure most of the people buying Challengers are using it as a "family" vehicle. And the next time you drive take a look at how many 4 doors vehicles only have one person in them. And just for the sake of argument what happened back in 60's and early 70's? You could get a car with two or four doors(not all of them but it was available). Unlike today you only have one choice, And after the Challenger is done you have none. If they come out with the Charger EV(with the fake engine sound) that will be the only two door available. But comparing a EV to gas is another story. At lease one of the auto manufactures will have a "OK" looking two door EV.

The garage is not accurate, good luck getting a redeye or ghost. They redeyes all bring 150-200 grand for a reason on barret jackson. I could not get a 2023 last fall. We got a 2022 redeye below sticker, a 2023 hellcat below sticker, and a scatpack way below sticker thanks to a member here and a control number. That said if you can order me a sublime widebody redeye with black stripes I will take it, nobody had accommodation for one when I tried much less a ghost or 170, you had to be in with the in crowd. My daughter also got accommodation on a superbee, thru a dealer her in law works at. Program cars were not easy to get, and you ordered with no final price, just an agreement to pay sticker. Some dealers only sold program cars above sticker, they did her a solid on that one.

Because Chrysler and every one thet been since being sold let dealers screw buyer's by charging over sticker. And have had a screw YOU on warranty i will no longer buy. Screw me once no way i am going back for more.
And if you remember they even screwed loyal dealer's and said guess what your no longer a dealer.

I could care less if the 4th Gens are just retagged cars same as the 2nd gen Mitsubishi were and all battery powered

Well let's get real here, the dealerships went away during the Obama administration, it was not Chryslers choice but the Obama team that picked the winners and losers. Do your research and see how many democrat owned dealers vs republican owned dealers were closed.....it was a political hit job not Chrysler. Mopar guys, and I am one, are a funny bunch, when Dodge built diesel pickups it was never enough, then the wanted crew cabs, still not enough, never happy, everybody else loved the new trucks, just not the hardcore mopar guys. I bought 3 of them, I tried to not like the new challenger until we bought the scatpack, best car we have ever owned hands down. If Chrysler had done what mopar guys wanted they would have been out of business, sales is what matters. We sold all the old "musclecars" except a superbird and moved on. The scatpack and hellcats are absolute bargains for what you get, especially in 2019. 340SIX a lifetime is a long time to be wrong, the new muscle from Chevy Ford and Dodge is fantastic, all of them.
