Good afternoon everyone So I am redoing my 70 Cuda interior back to it's original red. I finally got my seat covers from Legendary (only took a year and some change, but I get it). I get them and they have these light black spots on the vinyl. I called legendary and they said it's "antiqued" and that's the way they come.
Has anyone ran into this before? My car is a daily driver so they will get used. If you have, is this noticeable once they are installed.
I kinda feel disappointed and bummed about this. I waited a long time and saved up for them to get a good quality original seat covers.

First question is there a non-"antiqued" version of your seat covers? Good question, they were sold under the original type of vinyl. There was ZERO mention in the description of antiqued color. I don't have a clue why anyone would want that. It kinda reminds me of the Ford vinyl that had that weird color.

Legendary's reply might be code for " that's the only material we have at the moment"...No one would ever want something like that unless specifically requested under the conditions already mentioned.. Seems odd they wouldn't have confirmed the order after all this time before just kicking them out the door...EDIT: I'm not seeing any options that would state "antiqued', "distressed", etc... I wonder what's actually going on ?

I don't have any right now. I will try and get some soon. Sounds strange to me After the pic's maybe someone else can EMAIL them and ask about ordering a set and if they have a method of antiquing using the BS about trying to restore a survivor? I do know that mold will stain vinyl leaving varying sizes of little black dots about the size of an 8 to 10-32 screw

IMO - for years, Legendary's RED, TAN and Burnt Orange interior vinyl has been "OFF" - originally they were solid colors here's the "spotted" tan the RED looks similar

Don’t know if they sell “antiqued” b body stuff, but this cover was purchased like 15 years ago. Didn’t have anything weird going on with the color.
A mopar guy used to have a shop in the area and he said he could sew some covers much cheaper than what legendary was selling, except it was in a generic material. Car wasn’t some spot on resto so I went with it and it was awesome. We used legendary foam. Maybe you could find somebody like that? Look for a guy about 82 years old. He will be the one you need.
I want my fair share

^^^ What the heck - I had a few '69-'70 Mustang Sportsroofs back in the day, NEVER a difference in the way the pleats ran. Gotta be thousands of them out there, so it's really bold - I mean, foolish - to try to BS that.
I do recall a few decades ago seeing that mottled look on burnt orange seat bolsters on a '70 GTX, but I don't know if that was legit/recovered/whatever. I didn't feel he was BS'ing me. When I first called he said that is what their documentation called out, and had been since they started making them. After the pictures of original seats, he seemed quite embarrassed, said it was a documentation error that had never been caught but the required steps to correct it had been taken As for the OP question on antiquing, I call BS on that
