That .039 IFR is HUUUUGE. I can’t think of a single carb I’ve done with an IFR that big. You have other issues, like that funky timing curve. You need to lower the IFR. It’s easy to do and it needs to be done.

BTW, what carb is this and what size engine.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

The carb is Quick Fuel 1050AN the engine is 493 stroker. My counter weights aren't bouncing. I've confirmed that many times. Timing marks are rock steady. Also, the car can creep along without touching the gas. The problem is part throttle or light throttle to cruise on a flat level road at the rpm that I have stated.

The reason for the "divide by 2" rule?
So Holley gets fewer phone calls.
Cars with very hot cams, very tall axle, small engine will drive better if done by test.
Divide by 2 may give you a useful number, but the practical tests (must pass both):
1. Can you reach your highest cruising speed with the PV closed (PV # less than cruise vacuum)?
2. Does the PV open when you want to pass or accelerate (or sag, flat spot, cough)?

. Also, I went back to the .035 IFR’s. The throttle response feels more sluggish. I haven’t driven the car to see what difference my changes have made. Raining here now. It felt really good with the .039 IFR’s. Real crisp throttle response
