If it's anything like their COPO car production from recent history, they only build 69 total body's per year, but they are available with several different engine cubic inch / supercharged / NA engine combinations.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

For 2022 Chevy is not limiting the number of cars to 69. They are selling them on a first come first serve basis, no idea how many they'll make this year, I guess it depends how many are ordered. This car cost $108,000 from the dealer. Which isn't a bad price for a brand new NHRA class legal car.

At least there would be some variety in the class, and more like the early days; and less like semi-ProMod.

There is a new class in the works called Factory X that uses big tires, Factory Shootout engines, stick shifts and full chassis.

Several cars are being build but as far as I know none are finished yet. The can run Comp Eliminator, perhaps some will run in exhibition late this year or early next year.

This link describes the class:

"... the FX category will bridge the gap between Factory Stock Showdown and Pro Stock Camaro."

Cool... but how much longer are the factories going to support Factory Stock efforts w/ the general move towards EV?

Re original topic, I love the COPOs, Drag Paks and Cobra Jet Factory Stock cars. Will never own one, but doesn't stop me from drool

Geoff Turk posted the other day his F/X car is about 80% done.

He ran his old Blackbird in Comp last weekend at Bowling Green.

I think NHRA rated it at 500HP, so the car is going to struggle to perform at the necessary weight for FS. The carb'd crate makes 720, but the EFI version has to breath through a 90mm throttle body

Worked on the car a little bit last night getting it ready for the next race. The car has a lot of really cool features. I'm impressed with the build quality. Here is a shot with the valve cover off.

Andy, where does the second line on the catch can go? it appears to go through the firewall. Is there an electric vacuum pump?

No, there are just two lines, one from each valve cover. It is just a remote breather with a catch can. This gives you a view of the other side.

I tweaked the EFI tune a little bit and the car ran a 9.439 @ 141.08 this morning. The owner also installed the factory fresh air inlet on the throttle body that pulls air in directly from the scoop. We had been told that the inlet scoop was worth at least a tenth. One racer said it was worth two tenths. So he has picked up 4 tenths since we started tuning. The air was really good this morning so that was part of it.

The interior on these cars is pretty sweet. The team that built these obviously spent some time figuring out how to integrate the roll cage into the existing body and interior. The fit and finish is really nice for a race car.

Yeah on that pass it might have been making between 750 and 800 hp. The outside air was good. The air inside the engine was 98 kpa and 71 degrees. The scoop really cools the air down a ton. The air temp inside the intake is over 100 degrees on the starting line but is down to 70 degrees at the finish.
