and speaking of flexible lines. what is the difference between DOT approved braided lines, and other [race ?] braided lines ? inner lining material perhaps ? and how does the different types of fluid react to the linings in these types of lines ?

I've had DOT5 fluid in my '67 Barracuda for 43 years...yes, 43 years. Everything was new when I did it and it has been in there since with no issues.
Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

I think it comes down to this, people who use DOT 5 know it works, people who don't think it doesn't. yep.

Man, Cab. That's harsh. I would absolutely agree with you on a lot of automotive contributors but not Rick. Ehrenberg isn't just the best Mopar tech editor in print, he's one of the most knowledgeable Mopar guys on the planet, period. Pull up some of his old stuff on the One Lap of America Green Brick. Grab a few of his Mopar Action Tech Specials. He really knows his shiznit. When he doesn't have the answer, he goes to industry professionals. His endorsement of new products is coveted because he doesn't screw around recommending bad stuff just to make an advertising buck. He tests stuff out on his own cars that he's used as magazine test mules for decades.
I’m listening.
