Got a message from. Todd Marsh, my cnc385 heads are ready to ship, that was a couple days ago. Todd will be doing a valve job on them and if there is time, will have a little extra TLC done to the ports beyond the cnc work. The valves will be 2.30 intake, 1.88'exhaust. Also the installed height is more on the 572 heads because the valves are longer. My -1 heads were at the limit with max keepers and retainers at 2.070 , no shims required😳. So i can transfer my springs ,retainers and keepers to the new heads. I might want to change keepers to reduce shims needed. Hopefully valves will be available, but pistons are eight to ten weeks out.
Been playing with the welder; merge collecters . Got my 16.5 lb Dakota Li battery, 60 ah, cranking, alternater friendly.
Wilson prepped 3X intake.
Headers will be 2 1/8 to 2 1/4 to merge 3.5 to 4 inch.
Alky injected, 2000+ cfm Terminter constant flow setup.
Hoping i can get 14.5 compression without compromising flame travel from the dome.
Pistons will have .9 (.036) top and second rings, 3mm lt oil.
Cam .868 gross intake, .848 net, .818 gross exhaust lift, net .798. duration @ .050 is 284/296/114 in at 111.
I hope to see 1030 hp at 7400. What do you think? It will be a while before dyno day, but i do plan on dynoing.
Car with driver should be 2865 race weight.

I would take the clover out of the opening of the intake....Mine went faster without it.....Big motors, want big plenum.

Parts look great. I'd think that would be good for more than 1000 hp as long as everything is put together right. You might end up playing with the cam specs a bit although that sounds like a very reasonable starting point.

The opening is cut like that for 2.5 inch throttle bores, so it is deceptively large. Wilson worked on it some.

Been tied up, got as far as these colecters are done. I used Si bronze wire to keep from warping the slip fit. They are very tight before welding, it may have been too much to weld qith steel. I may try steel on the tubes, still learning my new welder along with getting some badly needed skills in that dept.

I called Mike Jones, who cut the cam, and he figured it would be very close, to eun it and see what i get.

@ 4023lb running low 9.50's @ 142+ HP comes out at around 915 using wallace (4.53 x 4.5 580ci combo) We use the older larger intake volume 572-13 heads, heavily hand ported. We have .768 lift gross 12.5:1 C/R and run on pump gas.
With .100" more lift, more CR and alcohol I'd be wanting be wanting to bust 1000hp, I'd be surprised if those mods would give me 120hp though but I have no experience with alcohol work

The heads have the potential to make 1000 in a good bracket piece for sure. Should be 400+ cfm and 385CC port and a 2.300"intake valve it shoudl be more than capable of that.

Update!
I am having a callies crank regound to 4.560 stroke, have ordered Molnar 7.00 long power adder+ rods. That will change the shortblock from 549 cubes to 580. The heads were cnc 385, and now have been worked on by larry at Flow Tech 2 for extra flow. So now it is wait for Jesel rockers and Diamond pistons.

My parts are on the way! Yippee! One pair, 572-13cnc 385 finished up by Larry smith, Jesel kit, 1.7 ratio, Diamond pistons. It was a long wait, but Todd Marsh of Marsh
Performance/MopartsConnection , gave me a better price than I expected, and has been great to work with. Thanks Todd, for helping with this build and a number of other questions over the years.
I will be taking the heads in for a flow test to compare with my old heads, testing on the same bench. But the end all of any build like this will be more than the flow numbers. But they are fun to look at smile

With a little bit of luck, you just might be able to get the car out by the end of the season. How are the new headers coming along?

Greg did you ever run the car at the 2840 pound weigh? I see the weight listed in your signature it much higher. Good luck to you and many new bests.

John, never raced below 3000#. The new aluminum block is 105 lighter, LI battery iS 25 lbs lighter, and i have lost 30 lbs, looking to drop another 10 by the time i get this back together. So maybe as low as 2820 running without hood. I should be able to post flow numbers for the heads today or tomorrow.

That would be wild, to say the least! I figure due to average DA of 2200 to 3000 on a good day where i race, maybe 8.30s if it hooks, 8.40s if it doesn't
