Recently purchased the Titan 4500. Have a 65 Coronet on it. Once set up to the correct height etc with the screw jacks, it is extremly easy to spin to the next setting and the locks engage nicely so very little movement once in place.

Hi Ron
I'm going to try attaching the files (3) but they may be to big or may not open correctly, If not PM me your email and I will send them one at a time. What I have is what I received with the unit and they appear to be copies as the picture quality is not the best.
After scanning, it may be worse or about the same shruggy beer;)

I like the whirly jig. It is a very well thought-out design.

Here is the instruction video: https://youtu.be/B9Dh-qHVdqY

I built mine for my Challenger for less than $250.00. It has had my Challenger on it, a 68' Chevelle, a C10 truck cab and then the bed on it. Works great.

No offense meant by this response but When was that? I built one off internet plans 20+ years ago. By the time the dust settled I had over 700 out in materials alone and a lot of time. I never used it as I was still employed and didn't have the time for the intended project. I got LAID off (political BS) in 2002 and decide to take the part time business Full time. At some point I sold the one I made for 1K as I recall. Also sold the intended car which I kick myself for now. 5 or so years ago the need came up for one business wise. I did some research and settled on the Whirly jig.
So I am always curios when someone says they built one for that kind of $$. My brother in Ca. could have done so as he was a pipefitter and had access to all kinds of materials and supplies.
I just looked online at a couple of suppliers and a 6ft piece of 2x2 x .125 wall box tube is running about 10.00 a foot + shipping.
So even if one could buy it locally I don't think 250 is a realistic number especially in todays market. Again no offense meant but I sure as h-ll wouldn't have spent 2K plus when I bought the WJ if I could have built it for even 500.00.
There have been some that have put units together using cheapo engine stands those are about 250 a pair by themselves right now. Add in additional materials and one would be easily over 500.00 and have a questionable setup. The WJ also have a lot of real nice features that would be hard to duplicate on a budget.
Again I'm not challenging your statement but rather trying to clarify what one might cost today wink up beer

These days the cheapest place I can buy steel is $2.10/pound. There's going to be AT LEAST 300 pounds of steel in a really basic rotisserie. If you're not equipped to cut it places will charge a minimum 50 cents per cut, most are $1 per cut. You'll need a decent drill to do various sized holes and a decent welder to stick it together - not to mention the skill to use it. Add in some decent casters that will take the weight. And you'll be a solid day or more building it - anything less and I wouldn't put a car on it ! So yeah, you can build it, just make sure you understand what's involved.

Very similar to what I am building. I have most of the steel, bought when it was a buck a pound. I use my cut off wheel to cut the material. I probably need to pick up a few more pieces of steel. And yes, there is some labor into it. But I think so far its less than $200 of materials. I will probably spend another $100 in materials. I also trash picked some carts I got the casters off of. A few minutes with a cut off wheel and they were liberated for this project.

On a side note, I had a co-worker who built one out of pressure treated 4x4s and unistrut. Held his Nash Rambler body while he did all the work.

Steel place down the street has a bunch of cut off remnants. Almost every piece is 48" or under. (So basically all built out of scraps). It was $237.40 for the material and I had the casters off of a cart that I cut up. Knocks down to dozens of pieces. Oh, and a tip number all the pieces. Helps make it is easier to go back together.

I would love to see some pics of the one made with lumber!
I bought my first one from John @ US car tool when he was first starting out. If I recall it was around 1k to $1200...something like that. A few years after my buddy bought one from him and he had upgraded the head with bearings. Basically its a trailer hub like you can buy from tractor supply. This makes a huge difference when spinning it.
At the end of the day the most important thing is to take your time leveling up the car and centering on the rotiserie. It can make a night and day difference. Right now I have my Cuda (E body) on it and I can spin it over 360° by myself. At no point does it get out of balance. This is the fifth car I have had on a rotiserie and I get better at mounting them each time. I nailed it this time. The tip is if it doesnt rotate easily keep adjusting it until it does.

I priced some 2x2 box tube a month ago and it came out to $14 a foot and you had to buy 20 feet! Granted this was at a local place that is usually a little high but damn! I told them they could keep it.
