The extended battery package adds $9,500 to the truck. Wouldn't a stand-by generator be cheaper? And I wonder what the replacement cost on that battery pack will be? Given that the average age of vehicles on the road today is over 12 years old, what will the resale value be on these things compared to their gas counterparts? Way to go, Ford.

The whole thing is goofy as hell.
I have maybe $1200 into a generator that powers my house & shop when our power goes out.
Fortunately my pickups are not only paid off, but appreciating, being a GM square-body K10 & OBS C3500 Dually.
I couldn't be further afield from the demographic that'll pay 74K for an ugly truck, even if it'll power the house laugh2
IF you could sell the energy, wonder how long it would take to pay off that truck ?

I'll probably buy that package if I get a Lightning. Haven't decided yet.

Way to go Ford ? I mean, people are buying them at that price so someone thinks it worth it. I don't want a $74k half ton no matter what it does. However, if the grid goes down and you're SOL, it probably can be worth it.

Not hard to spend 70k on any pickup(regardless of manufacture) now....whether it can power your home or not.

So, the question is, will it charge up someone's electric car when the grid crashes? Asking for a friend... LOL! stirthepot
