These were made by Regal and used by Mr. Norm and was told used on some Certs. As well as sold outright. I have had this one 25_30 years. It was flooded twice in Storm's_Hurracane and both times it was not my 1st on my list of priorities. Having looked at picture's I have seen 2 thst were orange. One guy on abodies only says one of them.he saw was factory painted orange, but I have my doubts. Mine was in orginal black paint and the fins and sides of the top was polished. And the whole base was black. I polished the sides of the base so it matches but is not supposed to be as far as I know. But have seen them.that way as well as all black. I am not looking for Resto as just being used since large Mopar ones hit the corner of the hood brace. But wanted to know. Were they gloss black, semigloss black, wrinkle in black?
1) I have not finished sanding. But did not finish polishing as it is now cold and raining. My plan was to go semigloss black with a good catalised paint. Or have it powder coated in black wrinkle if that was how they came even though the sides are polished.
2) I have a filter K&N cut down that will work fine so wanted to show it as I have seen guys ask what to use. It is what is shown in the pictures 3) I have this cheapo same size as CA322 and was wondering who made it. The paper has discolored over time Is it Purulater, Wix? Ben Snobar gave it to me many years ago free when I got a T/A base and lid and seal since it was just laying around. It was new in box but the box is long gone so just wondering.

Sold an NOS one last year and have had about a dozen of them and the finish on yours looks correct. BTW, the K&N filter is just a little to thick to work right on a 71 Demon. BTW, it is a Segal not Regal. I don't see anything wrong with yours, they are not "polished", just natural cast and the paint that is on it looks normal and fine to me. Here is a picture of an NOS one on a 6.1 Hemi with fuel injected six pack...

I havee one of those myself. Mine isn't polished and has what's left of fine textured medium flat black paint. All the raised aireas are just cast aluminum, not polished. I think tri power faced backwards on mr norm 340 six pack demons, but I'm not positive

Yes they are supposed to be facing the other way on 71 GSS's, this is an aftermarket build and we decided it would look better the way it was supposed to be placed...

Very interesting trivia - I've never seen one before. What are these worth?
That all being said, I was living in Chi-Town area back in 1979 for a job - I lived out there for about 5 months. I remember a Dart GSS at a transmission shop - the car was parked outside. It was black & had the Paxton supercharger on it - one of the guys there showed it to me. THAT made enough of an impression on me that I still remember it today! Seeing one like that "in the wild" so to say.

This seller must have more than one but sold a few in the resent past. Look at this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-MOPAR...m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

I would have fixed the hood to work before it was painted if I had known. Would have been an easy fix. You can see where it hits the brace in this picture front passenger coner of lid. Please excuse my crappy camera pics that made everything light, grainy and washed out.

I havee one of those myself. Mine isn't polished and has what's left of fine textured medium flat black paint. All the raised aireas are just cast aluminum, not polished. I think tri power faced backwards on mr norm 340 six pack demons, but I'm not positive you are 100% correct. The face backward becuse they went on some year very. The "Tri-Power was viewed from front to back as the hood opens the other way. So you were looking at it the opposite than on our cars. Or so I heard and read. Could be an old wife's tale. More of me wanting to know how they were since my research shows them like Jim's. And all over the place claims that theirs came other ways. So just wondered since it is an after market part if anyone could support otherwise. Even one post at Abodiesonly saying one was orange. I may or may not polish the ribs and sides as it is not like I am doing a restoration. . Having had one in 1972. I believe the raised areas were brushed (think 60-80 Grit). The finish did have a slight pebble look to it and was a satin black with very little sheen to it. The air cleaners were actually made for the BB Tri power corvettes which as stated above the hoods opened from the rear. The original Segal filter elements were white with a diamond shaped aluminum screen inside & out with somewhat soft black molded top & bottom. When used on a mopar, the base when installed on the carbs required the lid to be “backwards” (to us) so the holes in the lid would match the studs on the outboard carbs which were offset. Sorry for the crap-y pic but hey it was 1972 I was 18 and thought the engine compartment looked awesome The second pic was about 3 years later after I met an individual who had a profound impact on my life. Just a little bit of clean up was needed, on both LOL NOTE the cardboard/ metal trans fluid can. The greenies should jump on that as they were a lot more earth friendly than plastic

Was that the member who had the dogs in Washington States car {Tom}? Also while posting here is some pictures for size reference to a Mopar CA322 filter commonly used on 2x4 Hemi, Six Pack etc. The last picture is measured from dead center to side. So width is twice that

The K&N cut down fits like a glove if any one needs a filter for one of these. Here is the cheap paper one I was wondering who made? Oh that is long on the lid not pits I wish the weather would get better so i can do a final polish. the filter pictured appears as though it may be an original or at least that is close to what they looked like. And K&N likely makes a filter that would fit without modifying as they are quite flexible and are what we used on a couple of one offs I've made

If you look at the picture I posted above with an NOS air cleaner and filter on top you will see it looks nothing like a K&N. It is a typical paper element of the era and no, K&N will not manufacture one, we tried several years ago...

I agree and did not say anything different the filter pictured appears as though it may be an original or at least that is close to what they looked like. And K&N likely makes a filter that would fit without modifying as they are quite flexible and are what we used on a couple of one offs I've made The above comment / suggestion was made as by measuring the ID and OD of our lids/ plates we were able to find a few "ROUND" K&N filters that easily conformed to the oval shape needed due to their flexibility. K&N FILTER SEARCH BY DIMENSIONSWhile responding to this a foggy memory popped up that the filters used by Ford on their early tri-power dual quad set ups may be a drop in replacement Not sure on that but it might make sense that Segal would've used an off the shelf element
