Was it possible to have N95 AND N42? The fender tag (yellow '71 340 'cuda above) seems to show it can.

That rule supposedly only applied to U,V & R code cars but as the above V code FT shows there are exceptions..

The rule is for Cuda and Challenger with N95 AND either a R or V code = No N42

B bodies are not effected.

What components were included in the N97 package for a 1970 Cuda 440 Six Pack 4 spd? Different resonators, mufflers and no tips? Or?

I'd heard about the no n42 with the n95 for years so when I finally sent the rubbing to Govier, I asked him why I had the wrong exhaust.

N95- California emmisions- 1970 only built at both B an E plants

N97- Noise reduction- only applied to U, V, and R engine codes and will be on the fender tag...cuda's and Challengers had no chrome exhaust tips.

Here is a picture of a V code California cuda' N95,N97 and NO N42

U code cuda's and Challengers with N95 had/have N42... my mistake.

Barry,
All well and good, but I have found errors in the Salesman's books before, just as there are errors in Owner's Manuals. They were probably published to be available at the beginning of sales year, no? Probably don't have changes that occurred at production time.

That being said, here is the 1970 Belvedere pocket guide, from your website, which shows N42 N/A in CA.

My 1970 440-6 Roadrunner, a CA car has N42, N95, N96, N97.

N95 was the emissions package, ECS. N97, listed on broadcast sheet, was noise reduction.
N95 on 70 Calif cars only.

Not for B bodies. I have at least five 71 road runners with N95 on the tag...all 340 cars

That's just poorly worded/punctuation:

My red 70' Charger R/T S.E. is an original California built and shipped to California car. It still has the N95 emissions and N97 sound deadening on it today. No N42 bright tips were on the car when I purchased it back in the mid 80's. The first thing I did was to add the bright R/T tips when I was a kid. Still on the car today.

When did N97 package start? That’s the CA turn downs, correct?

I want my fair share

What's part of the package varies per year and per car model.

I think there are 1969 N97 cars. Or maybe called or coded differently. I remember 69 Chargers that got a dual snorkel air cleaner instead of an open element. not sure if turn down exhaust were part of that model and year package.

Also, there are emission packages that start in 1966.That was first year you see exhaust air pump's on Most Chevy's and Ford. Starting in 1966 you'll see green CAP control devices https://www.curbsideclassic.com/aut...irst-effective-exhaust-emission-control/ By 1970
