N95, emissions. How come some fender tags have them, and others do not?

Not all cars came with it, so it will not be on all tags.

I thought about that, but this tag has both, N95 and N42:

N95 was the emissions package, ECS. N97, listed on broadcast sheet, was noise reduction.
N95 on 70 Calif cars only.

I don't see many california cars here in florida. In 1970, were any N95 cars built at Hamtramck, or are all '70 "california" cars literally california cars (LA plant)?

In 1970 there were two emissions standards, Federal (49 states) & California. Any new car sold in California had to meet California's emission standard. In Chrysler's case, N95. It didn't matter where it was built, only where it was sold new.

N95- California emmisions- 1970 only built at both B an E plants

N97- Noise reduction- only applied to U, V, and R engine codes and will be on the fender tag...cuda's and Challengers had no chrome exhaust tips.

Here is a picture of a V code California cuda' N95,N97 and NO N42

N95 doesn't mean lack of tips for a B-body. I believe tips were an option on a B-body

If N42 was the tips, then N97 must have gotten rid of something else besides just the tips right? resonators perhaps? anything else?

I understand the tube in the trunk, what's the story behind the distributor?

The N97 on the tag may have been a mid-year addition.

I bet your right it being a mid to late year addition.

Here is a picture of my old 71 California 6bbl cuda' tag.

no N42, but has N97 and N98

I don't remember what the N98 was for?

The N97 might also be plant related.

Was it possible to have N95 AND N42? The fender tag (yellow '71 340 'cuda above) seems to show it can.

Also N42 & N95

My U code R/T S.E. Challenger also had N41 N42 & N95 with a SPD of 723 The rules seemed to bend often..
