The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

I was in HF again today looking and this youngish dude comes up and asked if was getting one (not a salesman). I say yea just can’t make up my mind. He says he has three, for different trailers, 9000 and two 5000s, all work great 6 years now. Main thing is the 1year warranty-$120, 2 years is double that. He said he got another 5000 just because it looked crummy, lol, they replaced with no questions. He said get remote ($39) then he sits in the car and winches it in. The new 12000 with nylon rope is $559 plus warranty cost. The older model 12000 3/8 cable is $359 plus warranty but has a 12’ switch cable and have to buy remote separately. Then the 80’ 3/8” nylon rope is $124 if I want that part. Time I add all that stuff I’m only $70 off the new one. I think I would rather have a 5/16” steel cable instead. I’ll go back bu TS to look again at their 110 volt ac one since I carry a small generator in the trailer anyway and an extension cord close to shop. Decisions decisions

We have a 12k mounted on a tilting flat trailer at work. We use it to pull 6'x14' sheds on and off at sites that we set up. Its been used to take the grunt work out of a lot of stuff. I cannot speak about the nylon cable, but the steel cable version we have has been a life saver. My opinion is you can't beat it for the price. It is also set up with 2 batteries. Even after a full charge, it tends to wipe them out if you really work it for awhile. Good luck

If the HF winch has a solenoid that is triggered by a wired or wireless remote any of the aftermarket kits will work.
