Would anyone consider running a Q jet on there mopar, I know a few 318-s did? Im not sure I could do it, well I could and just not speak on it but id bet a well setup q jet at wot people would not know the difference between the two. Im really impressed with Q jests with how easy they are to work on and to get to perform.

Yeah, like others have pointed out, that one you found has way too many emissions controls stuff on there.
I for one am a huge fan of the 9800 series aftermarket carbs...these are the ones with the attached electric choke. Nice setup for all the various manifold combos, etc.
Having said that, yeah the good ol' TQ still requires you to pay attention to the setups. but done right, they scream!
The 9800 stuff comes up on eBay here and there...just not all that easy to find one on the day you need it.

This ^^^^ A friend's FIL knew Q-jets inside and out plus all the little tricks for them. He tinkered on the Q-jet on my '78 T/A and I couldn't believe the difference. I've never messed with one so I wouldn't really feel comfortable trying it at this late stage of the game. I'm sure there are still a few Q-jet experts out there. Had my Valiant project not fell through I would have been tinkering on a TQ again. And maybe hate was too strong a word. But dislikers gonna dislike just doesn't have that ring to it. Tim

Dump the old school plastic quad along with the tuning headaches, leaks, etc...I'm running one of these on my 87 360 Power Wagon, planning on getting another for my Daughter's 318 Poly in her 61 Fury... I went with the full aluminum body vs the composite But does it make the TQ roar at WOT? I do not have first hand knowledge, but I've heard from others that they do not have the TQ WOT sound. Can anyone confirm???? I tried one of the all alum Demon TQ's before I went Hilborn EFI on my 512 in my Charger, it was a much higher pitch sound than the smaller cid combo's I remember from back in the day, I had to return it to Summit racing, very glad they took it back, the accelerator pump kept melting from the ethanol E10 that we have here.

A TQ will work really well as long as it’s not warped. Not sure why it’s voodoo science to so many. Having an original air door tool helps, but isn’t a deal breaker. I thought somebody was making new main bodies a few years back too.
I want my fair share

I've owned several and will say they ran pretty good and also had that great sound.

There are a few pages in the back of my Rochester carb book showing Q-jet applications for 318 Mopars and 429 Fords. Those Ford carbs are like hen's teeth.

I have lots of decisions to make on all three cars but if I go with new carb I am going to just go with the Demon. Thanks for input.

If Y'all run E10 fuel I would find out if they changed the accelerator pump material , they make different ones for the regular Holley type carbs, like I said earlier the ethanol ruined the one I tried

I've owned several and will say they ran pretty good and also had that great sound. 1985-1988 Dodge Trucks and B-Vans with the 360 V8 were also equipped with Rochester Quadrajet carbs from the factory. Many years ago, I owned a 1985 Dodge truck with a stock 318 2bbl V8. I took off the factory 2bbl intake/carb and installed a used Edelbrock Performer intake and Rochester Q-Jet carb. The carb came from a late 1980s Dodge Truck with a 360 V8. I bought it from an auto wreckers and had it rebuilt by a local carb rebuilder. The truck ran great with the Q-Jet. Started instantly hot and cold. Gas mileage and power improved. Overall drivability was much than the factory 2bbl carb. I like the Q-Jets and I highly recommend them. IMO, they are a more reliable carb then the Thermoquad.

When Carter began to stop their production, Chrysler began to use the Q-Jet as the T-Quad replacement. And it was a natural movement since Carter offered to build them due Rochester poor capacity to produce more stock
