Makes me wonder if when I got those numbers the 8 was really a 6. That would be a logical explanation.

They weren't different.

I ASSUME they were based on the valve cover being different on the early K heads shruggy

I went back and looked at the stands. I am pretty sure the last digit is a “6” but as you can tell, that last number isn’t as clear as the others.

looking at the pic you posted, the last number appears to be a "6" to me. it may be just the screen of my PC, but the whole part number appears pretty clear.
