I am having no luck finding a reasonable (not cheap....just reasonable) HEMI K-Frame for a 1969 B-Body (Superbee), In fact, I haven't found one at all.

There are a few Hemi K Frames on Ebay for 67-68 B-Body for $2200+, but I'm not going to spend that much for the wrong year......

Anyway, I do not care about the stamp on the front at this point, I just need a K-Frame that will allow me to install a 426 Hemi in my 69 Superbee. It's not an original HEMI Car, so # match is not important.

The Question:
Does anyone sell Hemi Conversion Brackets that will allow me to Cut off the engine mount brackets from my 440 K-Frame and Weld in the Hemi Brackets, once my engine is set, leveled and squared up exactly where it is supposed to go ?

Thanks in advance ?

Mike

Hemispherical Productions (sic) in Hemet, CA used to offer exactly what you are looking for. Unfortunately they went out of business many years ago. I bought the passenger side mount bracket from them when they were available but the driver's side I never needed.

I thought I read recently on this site that someone had gotten Schumacher to cut loose and allow them to make his mounts confused or is the above place the one I'm thinking of ? beer

Send your wedge K-frame to Al Debevic in WI and he will do the conversion. He did one for me and it was perfect.

It isn't very difficult for a good street rod fab guy to modify a stock K frame to work with a Hemi. Street rod guys build cars from the ground up so bending up some 10 gauge steel plates to build a motor mount bracket isn't exactly rocket science. If you have a Hemi engine and a stock K frame just take them to a street rod shop and ask them to build a set of mounts. Or pull your K frame and send it to someone for the conversion.

There are pictures and measurements available to help with the conversion so it isn't super secret. I hang out at a local chassis shop that builds a lot of street rods and race cars and they could do the conversion in one day. They build custom front suspensions for street rods in 3 or 4 days and do complete engine swaps in just a few days. So all you have to do is find the right fab shop to help you.

Too bad you didn’t make it to Carlisle. I saw one for $1750 and one for $1000. No difference between the two that I noticed.

There is a lot of good information above, thank you all very much for the info.

I will be calling Arruzza and Schumacher to see if they are in stock.

Thank You Again,

.

I highly recommend Al. He will take your K frame make sure straight. Fix any issues and do the conversion including brackets, insulators and hardware at an extremely reasonable price. Shipping a K frame is not that expensive believe it or not. He did my 1970 B body conversion recently. Extremely happy.

Any idea what Al charges for the conversion?

I can't do it now but since it is getting harder to get parts like this it may be a good idea to spring for one while they are available.
