Okay got it out. It pulls out from the speedometer end it just took a little persuasion and then it slid right out. I guess after close to 40 years it’s bound to be a little stuck. There’s a little collar on that and it stops it from being pulled from the other end I just couldn’t see it down in there. As I mentioned it is a NOS cable and it definitely had grease on it. But it was kind of dried out from all the years so I wiped it clean and I use the Napa lubricant. Time for install and these aren’t the easiest to get to being that they insert to transfer case. I have to do things in baby steps… Time permitting LOL. Thanks for the help.

Sorry, jumped right past that reply. Yes, I own a tube of that I bought for a brake caliper rebuild project. It's thin enough that I think it would be good to try.
