Example .
good god this site works horrible anymore ,, about time to just let the bots have it
anyway, here is the actual question
Say a person wrecks car , adjuster comes out ..says its totaled tells insurance company to tow it to salvage lot , without any signed paperwork , or email response or anything ..
Is this normal practices ? ..never even got the personal items out of the car . it was locked up in stowage lot

No. I never once had a totaled car moved to the salvage pool facility without the customer being notified first, and agreeing to have the car moved. If it is practical for the customer to come get their stuff out/pull their plates, we'll hold off on moving the car for a few days to give them time to do so. If it is not, or if they simply don't want to do it themselves, we'll pay the salvage pool to box up their personal items/plates and ship them to the customer.
In fact, I never once had any car moved, repairable or total, without the customer knowing and approving of doing so. It's not my car, it's not the insurance company's car, it's not our decision to make. Now, if a car is incurring storage charges, and the customer says "Give me 2 weeks to decide," we're going to tell them that we can give them a few days, but after that, we can either move the car, or they will be responsible for the additional storage charges. This is rare, though. In most cases, if I couldn't have a car moved quickly, it was due to a serious issue, such as major injuries, and we would of course be more flexible in those situations.

No written form required ? in this case the adjuster told insurance that the person overseeing it said it was ok and they deny that they did ..

No written form required to move it, no. Most repair shops require written authorization from the vehicle owner to start repairs, though. in this case the adjuster told insurance that the person overseeing it said it was ok and they deny that they did .. I'm not sure what you mean by this.

The insurance company said that the independent adjuster was given the go ahead to tow it to salvage yard by the person that is somewhat in charge of the situation .. that person says they never told anyone it was ok ..

The person in charge is the vehicle owner. Unless someone spoke to the vehicle owner, the car should not have been moved, period.

To start repairs, to settle a claim, etc...written confirmation is required, of course. Simply to move a vehicle from one location to another? Verbal approval has always been sufficient, in my experience. Never once had an issue.

Ok .. Thanks for your input I have both had insurance as well as vehicle owners contact me at the shop to inform me it is totaled and would be picked up in the next few days. Had had tow companies who pick up for salvage pools as well as yards contact us to check if vehicle has been released.
