I have an aftermarket autometer gauge and its hash marks are not even I assume to help accuracy. I had to bend the arm for the float to clear my baffles in the tank so now it just reads
F
you have gas
you need to start looking for a station
damnit, your out of gas!
1/4 tank
E
I should probably follow this post while I am doing this re wire.

MeterMatchThis is one, I believe there are others.

Man you guys are fast. I remembered it after all. The meter match is it from tanks, inc. I just needed another cup of coffee! Lol. However, looking at a dragon response reminds me of a problem that just popped up. He wants extra mechanical gauges to make sure he has a good read on the vitals, anyway. Daylight driving the gauges work fine. Turn the headlights on and the fuel, oil pressure, and gas gauge drop to zero. Never experienced this one before.

I can see that useful when your overall resistance is wrong.
ie a 29 to 91 resistance vs the 10-80 you need. mismatched sending unit to gauge.
but the issue I keep seeing is that it doesn't read right through part of the travel. As mentioned above. It reads full. but doesn't transition correctly and suddenly you are at half a tank. and it suddenly goes to empty. I don't see this helping with that, as it would be a variable resistance problem though the travel. The resistance change through the range should be smooth without step changes. If it isn't, it sounds to me like the sender is damaged internally.

My stock sender uses a resistance range that no aftermarket gauge supports. MM is the potential fix.. It has to be calibrated at Full and Empty, it can also be calibrated at 1/4 adn 3/4 tank for more accuracy. Once i get it installed I'll see.

Daylight driving the gauges work fine. Turn the headlights on and the fuel, oil pressure, and gas gauge drop to zero. To me it sounds like the gauge voltage limiter is losing a ground or voltage. If they work ok without the headlights on and go bad with the lights on the power or ground seems like the problem. Try running an extra ground to the cluster.

seems like this might work for the usual Mopar aftermarket fuel sender inaccuracies . I have yet to get one that reads true

Sometimes you dont get a good ground from tank to frame. Did you put the ground jumper across the hose from fuel line to tank ? Take an alligator to tank lip and then to frame. Make sure you get good grounds see what happens and let me know. good luck

Make sure you get good grounds see what happens and let me know. good luck The ground jump should be from the sending unit to the frame. There is a rubber gasket that seals the sending unit, although the retaining ring grounds it, it may not be enough ground causing a fault.

That is a pretty cool unit. I think I am going to have to add this to make my gauge trustworthy again and more than just a gas, some gas, no gas indicator.

Potentially cool little widget but strikes me as pretty pointless. I don't find it difficult beyond reason to calibrate a tank sender on the bench. Clean the reostat contacts, bend float arm, resolder connections, test with an ohm meter. As long as it reads empty before it's actually empty, I'm good.

Well, when you have a stock sender that no aftermarket meter works with it's not pointless. Such as the autometer gauge in my 51 Plymouth. But if your head revolves around stock only then, yeah, pointless.
