I'll vote '40 Chevy too. Based on the slanted B pillar, and how the area between the hood and door is laid out.

Ford use the transverse front and rear spring suspension until 1948, that car has conventional mounted rear leaf springs

Lower hinge is exposed for sure.............



BUT, does the car in question have a divider on the rear window, or is something hanging down? Looking at more pics, '40 chevies had one piece rear windows.

The picture of the Chevy posted shows only the bottom door hinge, where the original picture clearly shows 2 door hinges. I also believe the Chevy had front leaf springs as well, and the original picture doesn't show any front spring hangers.
Could be a different GM car, or maybe a Stude. Lots of late 30s and early 40s cars had a similar body style. Rear parallel leaf springs, and likely an independent front suspension with 2 outer door hinges will tell the tail.
We have eliminated a 39-40 Ford coupe, and the 38-41 Chevy coupe. I can add a 39-41 Plymouth coupe, they had 3 outer door hinges. Gene

Slanted B-pillar isn't Ford, doubt it's Studebaker, seems more of a GM thing, as they were a leader as far as styling in that era.
I'd need to see fenders or hood or grille.

The B pillar thickness and kinda "rounded" quarter glass looks more similar to the Plymouth posted than to the rest. But it's 3 hinge and vent window seems to be smaller and more rounded.

Also the shape for the hood and fenders are not toward to the Plymouth
