The door handle would not have originally pointed towards the ground, its either broken, or missing the latch assembly.

I agree! I do think it needs some headlights hidden someplace, and some tail lights, so it could be driven on the street. Gene

I grew up watching cars like this at the local dirt track, and recently have considered building an old memory, just because it would be fun. Here’s an example of one

It probably says on it somewhere. Either a body tag or a stamp or a logo. Might even have a logo etched in the glass somewhere.

A dashboard pic would certainly help. Not a Buick though.

Yes, the dash should hold a lot of clues if not the answer itself.

Outstanding identification Diego, these two models are so close it’s difficult to say with what’s shown by the OP photo.

I see you tagged the Olds into the photo but comparing the two, the only difference I can tell is a body line detail that’s below the drip rail, the feature is tangent to the curvature of the rear glass upper edge and connects to the tangent of the door glass upper edge. This feature appears only on the Olds and missing from the LaSalle, for this reason I’m of the belief the OP pic is a LaSalle

Truth be told, my friend figured it out. I showed him the pic and he replied:

Quote
After looking at the pic I decided it is not a Buick as the belt line trim strip breaks for the upper door hinge on the Buick. Could be 37 Olds or LaSalle, on which trim continues unbroken above the hinge. Not ‘38 Olds and LaSalle, as they do have the break (Pontiac and Cadillac do not have trim here; Chevy is a different body).
