I have lived in Tn for 15 years. I could not think of a better state to live in. No state income tax, property taxes are low, 4 seasons mild winters, very friendly people , relaxed gun laws, RED state, cheap vehicle license fees, no smog check vehicle inspection in most counties. Some one said 9% sales tax but it is only 7% on vehicles. Sales tax is the most fair tax because it only taxes the consumer. You save more than that in income tax. Fuel is cheap here also.

Thank you again everyone. Eastern TN would be okay but, I like parts of the West more for some reason and grandfather used to live in the east side Knoxville. He lived in Montana for a while and not sure if he lived on the Blackfeet Reservation. I believe he dated a woman from near there or from the reservation itself but, never knew more than that. Sales tax here is 7% on everything. I guess I'll just have to keep doing research and see where things go along with trying to make the best decision I can with everything. The responses in this thread have definitely helped.

As far as taxes, get a good look at the whole story, property/income/purchases.
Same goes for the regulatory situation, the relative freedom from that here has been very appealing and appreciated.
16 years ago, I paid more for the plates on a '97 Mustang in CA than I pay now for 4 cars (and it's a flat fee here).
It's harder to check into the local & State level of bureaucracy in a given area, but to me important if you plan to build or renovate or even have several vehicles.
When it comes to water and snow in the Inland NW (E WA, N ID, W MT), it really varies, essentially like micro-climates.
My well is 90', (water at 65' - the aquifer is literally under me); 5 miles away, it's 200' down or even 500'.
Heaviest snowfall is the same deal: a few miles away it can vary markedly. And it varies generally over about a 3-year cycle.

Thank you. Topside that is one consideration I'm going to look at along with other things. Just trying to get a better feel for things overall.
