As long as you keep the non-LU parts as an assembly i.e. shaft, clutch retainer, support and pump housing, you can use them. Pic below shows the difference in the supports.

On the lock up shaft is that third ball plugging the converter fill port? If so that would be a bad mistake to make to swap parts around.
I looked over the parts I have on the shelf and they look just like the picture. So I put a tag on the lockup part to keep me from using it by accident. The pump bodies appeared to be identical as did the pumps so all of that looks like it can be interchanged. I didn't even know that I had a lock up 727 sitting under the bench until I tore into it. It has been sitting back there for 10 years and I never took a close look at it. I think it came out of a 1978 Cordoba that I parted out years ago. I just pushed the trans under a bench and figured I'd look at it some day. It has a lot of nice looking parts inside so I've been going thru it trying to see what I can use. Looks like I can use most of it except for the input shaft, reaction shaft and valve body.

That is an interesting tip. I hadn't heard of the $60 Cummins setup. I'll have to look into that. Andy,I am waiting for Tom to call me back.I am not sure if the 6 pinion fir without machining anything as it mat be a tad wider. I could be wrong but I don't think the pressure angle on the splines for the diesel front planetary are the same as 1970 and older which would include push button trans. Doug

The diesel pinion carrier is modified by re-broaching the spline angle.

I pulled an older support off the shelf today and looked at it and it only has two passages with one blocked. So this much be another variation. I'm not sure what this support came off of but it is pre-71 since it has the smaller bearing surface for the narrow bushing hub.

The diesel pinion carrier is modified by re-broaching the spline angle. That's what I thought. Not a bolt in. Doug

I have a TCS billet steel front drum with the aluminum piston, 15 springs with a billet retainer, billet servos, solid Alto red lined front band, Alto red clutches with Kolene steels. I also removed the governor assembly and made an aluminum spacer to take it's place. Also tapped and plugged the governor feed hole in the park gear. We did all that the same way but did not dfo the park gear. What would tgat have done for me?

Usually, plugging that hole is only done when using a roller bearing in the rear support; that, along with installing the front sealing ring on the park gear, helps retain the lube pressure that is lost through the rollers.
