What deck height would you want for a Super Stock or Australian Pro Stock block?

They are around 8.4" from memory, a friends Comp Engine, he went down in to the bell housing area and that was 8.375" or something like that. The deck was getting pretty thin down that low. I remember Bob Book telling me he'd go down to 8.2" on his 400" stuff if the block allowed.

I would think a billet crank would be more what you would want though.
Didn’t “blofish” use a 4 cylinder p5 for a land speed record? It may have been a p7 headed 4. Don’t recall for sure.

It was a P5 headed 4 cylinder, I don't think Mopar ever offered a 4 cylinder block that took a P7 head. As for the head castings, Mopar hasn't done the P5 in some time, they did release a P9 casting for 4 cylinder engines.

There are a few P5 headed 4 bangers around. Most were used in Midgets and a couple in Comp, never was a competitive deal there. As for the P5 deck hieght yes they will usually be 8.5 and under, depends on the block as most are pretty thin in the deck, the cast MP stuff anyway. They share a few similarities with the 99/06 stuff but so does just about any pupose built race engine.
