I never liked shows where they take used motors and trans and just do a spray paint rebuild and maybe bolt new parts on and resell it as if it is new. A lot of shows seem to do that...or at least it looks that way by how the show is edited. One episode of Iron Resurrection(which I really like) they were complaining about a Ford 9" rear they bought and how rusty it looked. I thought they were just looking for a rebuildable core...not something that they could run as-is. They are always buying LS engines from low mile wrecks. Are they just cleaning them up and running them as-is or are they going through them to make sure they are good to go?

Watch his wife/girlfriend (whatever she is). She looks at him like she is deathly afraid of him.

Watch his wife/girlfriend (whatever she is). She looks at him like she is deathly afraid of him. I noticed that too. I've only seen the show a couple times but I think it was when he ruined a piece of metal while trying to bead roll it. She did look scared.

EVERYTHING I have ever seen them do borders on totally hideous and is literally hung together with Bailing wire and super glue. He scrounges parts out of bone yards and replaces nothing. Its kind of like watching a really slow train wreck.

However there have been many episodes where they install brand new crate engines. I guess it just depends on the customers budget.

Two things, where is his shop? As far as Gene Windfield and him training help I'm sure his shops have always been west of the rocky mountains I've met him, Gene, several times, I was going to have him make me a Carson lift off top for a 1941 Ford Deluxe Tudor that had the top chop off before I got it, I'm thinking he was the first guy to make them back in the days(1950s) gone by
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

His shop is in Canning, Nova Scotia. Spell check is killing me. He calls it Old Canning.

One of my best friends, since I was 16, did a whole slew of mid-'70s and early, '80s Vetts, Camaros, and Trans Am with Card Board and Glass. Also bent metal over Barrels etc. Wild Candy and Air Brush. Every now and then he does a nice Pearl or Candy Job. He also every few years gets some old-timer who wants a crazy 70-80 wild custom that he does way to cheap just to do one. Last year he had a Donk Guy have him do a crazy candy and cut the roof off a car. He also made one a wide body I see the guy as more of an artistic builder than a real builder. To me, he is closer to how these bizarre cars were done back in the day. Any of the unrestored vintage show cars I have seen are not much different and were probably made in a similar fashion. They were all more of a static display then something you would actually drive. I watch the guy just to see the crazy things he comes up with.

His cars are definately more show then drivers especially the way they are put together but it's still interesting to watch. And it was cool seeing him make the bubble for the bubble top. Instead of going on about how hard it is to find or that they don't exist or whatever rant every other show uses he just goes and makes it.

I've checked out a few episodes, they're ok. Though it's impressive how he just chalk boards the original idea, then from there out just kinda wings it. And way up there in Nova Scotia, Canada I'm certain it gets butt a$$ cold early and stays long. Hoping they'll do a show when it's mid-winter. He's all inked up, got some janky teeth and a great approach to most anything really...likeable guy for sure. You would like full custom garage with Ian. He looks like he is wingingbit as,well. No Crazy Drama just great work. He blows bubbles on a few shows. I wish they would put Speed Is The New Black Barack on. And the show with the California guys. One is a member here he has a TA Challenger. Named Troy. That was a great show as,well.

And his shop appears to be not much more than a building shading him from the sun. But, it's probably a little better than that.
