as the tubes on several pipes are rusted at the flanges, i would suspect the rust, at minimum, has migrated several inches past where the wrap starts. it would be interesting to view what those tubes look like today under the wrap. i am not a fan of that wrap, just for the rust reason alone. double wall tubes being wrapped is another subject altogether, however.

Maybe I'm lucky. Set of hooker headers on my charger for over 25,000 miles and over 15 years. Wrapped from day one and no issues yet. This is a mild 440 Best then to never remove the wrap, you may not like what you find. Another telling sign that your situation might be different, and you didn't mention, but wrap, from my experience seldom lasts 25,000 miles. If you mean have I re-wrapped the headers the answer is no. Same wrap. Its a mild combination and the engine has not been apart since installing it. Well the, I might agree with your luck suggestion.

Double wall tubes? Do you mean like marine headers with water cooling?

Double wall tubes? Do you mean like marine headers with water cooling? i was thinking of double wall motorcycle pipes. just basically a pipe over a pipe. i never gave marine headers a thought. good point you bring up.

I use black VHT Hi-temp spray paint on my headers. Looks great, is cost effective, last for years and I can touch them up when needed with ease.
