My wife has been offered a position she cannot pass on so we are moving to Versailles Ohio in about a month. Seemed like a nice area but admittedly we were only there for 40 hours. Luckily I found a real estate agent to show us some properties in the are just in case this came through. Well long story short we made an offer on a house just outside town and will be closing soon. Anyway just wondering if there is anyone in the area from here and if you have any insights about the area. Any info is great, we don't know anyone in the area so starting from scratch here, and have had very little time in the area.

If you have any interest in aircraft, The Air Force Museum is an hour away. Pre WWl to modern Jets, Presidential aircraft. Largest military aircraft museum in the world. https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/ easily spend a couple days there. And you'll be a couple hours from Columbus and The NAts.

No problems in Vegas at all. We are not selling our place here either. Just an oppourtunity with a large increase in pay will get her to full retirement(already retired from military) much quicker

Wholly crap Al you will die from boredom. All that State has is Drag-strips every 50-75 miles, amusement parks, beautiful lakes, great fishing, snow, sun, young girls in bathing suits, cheap gas, and did I say beautiful drag strips.

Don't forget your thermal under drawers. Well the winters aren't as bad here as they used to be hardly any snow at all last year. Good news is I think 8 dragstrips within a five hour drive (hope they all reopen). Just about 3 1/2 hours from Norwalk for some fun with most of the racers from here at Monster Mopar next year . Scenery is very nice around here right now from all the rainfall every thing is very green Welcome to Ohio Al maybe you can come to one of our Moparts get togethers north of you. Gus

Versailles is a cool little town. It is an hour away from where I'm at. (Richmond Indiana) We should meet up at a cruise-in or something once you are settled.

Dont know if you or the wife like country music or not( my wife loves it) but there is a nationally famous event in Fort Loramie, Ohio every summer . Probably less than 30 minutes from where you will be. Its called simply... “ The Country Concert” 4 day festival with tons of the top acts every year. Wife drug me down there few years ago. Carri Underwood was the top billing that night. Actually had a good time

The wife and I are looking forward to it and a bit anxious all at once. Buying a house "online" has been a challenge for sure. With all those folks working form home it seems they are not communicating so well. One of the things we liked about the area was people seemed to have some pride in their communities which is lacking out west for the most part. Wife will be working in Coldwater. Eldora is not far for sure we actually looked at a house close to there when we visited the one time. A lot of farms, dairy farms and chickens in the area for sure. Made it a challenge to find a house for sure, short notice and the requirement for her to be within 30 minutes of work really narrowed it down. Throw in our desire to use one of our VA loans and it got narrowed down very quickly. Just not a lot of homes for sale there in the price range we were looking at that met those criteria. Neither of us have ever lived in a small town since we were very young, so this will definitely be a change of pace for us. With only 40,000 people ion the county and a town of 2100 it will be different for sure. Smallest town we have lived in the last 35 years was 200k. We are used to having things close for sure so big change coming. As for the weather we are both Midwest kids and I grew up in Texas where its actually HOT. Was 108 here yesterday I'm looking forward to the weather of my youth and we both are looking forward to four seasons again. Since I joined the Air Force in 1985 we have spent the bulk of our time in the west and desert. The wife retired from the AF in 2018 and we just came back to Vegas because it was easy. We had a house here, all of our children live here and so do the grandkids. But we both were kinda looking for a change. I look forward to getting a chance to meet more of you when we get relocated for sure. As for racing I'm not sure what I am going to do. My car wont work as a TS car in D3 for sure, nit as an NA Mopar anyway. Being that close to Indy I would love to get a [censored] at running the US Nationals, so something will need to change. For now I am not bringing the Stratus or the dragster, it will stay here and I will give it to my son. We were hoping to find a place with a shop built already but just couldn't find anything agreeable to us. SO we bought a house on 3 acres and will look to adding a shop later. Guess I gonna have to build some sort of Mopar street car again to enjoy the summers cruising around. To damn hot here which is why I don't have one anymore. Well other than my 68 D100. Thanks for the words of encouragement and look forward to meeting some of you in the future. Looking forward to the challenge of relocating as well, just not the expense. As for country music no neither of us huge fans, my wife listens to some I am very much a head banging kinda guy. But we are always into having a good time so its not out of the question. Will put it in our bank of info thanks.

Enjoy the adventure. Some great car stuff in the area such as the drag strips, MoPar nats etc as already mentioned. A few more just South of you in KY worth some weekend trips include:
Somernites Run in Somerset, KY every fourth Saturday of the Month Aprli-Oct. Usually May is MoPar month but it was cancelled and MoPars in May will be in Sept. Most nice Saturdays have 1200 to 2200 cars and a nice cruise on 127 following the show downtown. Also, the Dodge Dealer has a morning MoPar meet on the Mopar month show. Street Rod Nationals in Louisville the first week of August. Hot Rod Reunion, Bowling Green, KY (Same as the Bakersfield, CA event). Usually Fathers Day weekend, moved to August this year. Keeneland Concourse in Lexington, KY. Nice show in July, cancelled this year but worth going to if you are in the area next year. Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. Even if you are not into Vettes still a great visit and some nice history. Non -Car in the same area of Bowling Green, Mammoth Cave. Largest Cave system in the world, awesome place to visit and take a tour, also caused the sinkhole at the Vette Museum. Road Trip to North Carolina to visit the Biltmore Mansion and Wheels Through Time Motor Cycle Museum. (Full weekend trip).
Enjoy the time, but smart move on keeping the Vegas home, better weather and climate out there.
