I’m working on my sons car and the picture that you see is the passenger side.
The LBJ front mounting bolt is going to hit the sway bar tab.

Do I just get a shorter bolt or what have you guys run into.

Are those home made anti-sway bar brackets? If so, then ask the guy who made them what he was thinking.

Factory sway bar brackets.

I talked to Cass at Dr. Diff and he said that as long as I was using factory stuff, I should be ok. It may be a different when I let the car down. But I doubt it.

Now that I'm thinking about it, weren't the spool type sway bars mounted differently? That could be my problem with the longer bolt.

All of the factory brackets that I've seen are on the top of the lower control arm. In your picture the brackets are hanging down below the bottom of the control arm. Here is a picture of the setup on my Duster.

It's been a while and I'm no A body guru, but here goes. You have a 73-76 LCA on your car. Is that a spool K frame? The 67-72 LCAs mounted just like the one that I'm showing you in my picture.

I bought these a few years ago from Clayton Kassuth in Catawissa, MO. One of the larger Mopar JYs certainly in my area if not the country.

I'll try to post up the following. My sway bar which is mounted to the bottom of the K frame. An internet pic of a 67-72 LCA with sway bar, and a 73-76 LCA with sway bar.

If you still don't believe it, we can phone a friend. Some of you A body guys chime in.

Got a shorter nut and cut the end of the bolt.

I'm a little late...but that is what typically happens when you use the large ball joint spindles with early LCA's with sway bar tabs. I went thru the same thing years ago. Glad you got it fixed! up

Just so I'm clear. Is the non-panted LCA for 67-72A-Bodies and the painted black LCA 73+? I know the tab position changed between years.

I would say you are correct.

I found one guy at Carlisle who had bought control arms for what he thought were to fit an a body only to find out he actually bought B body ones.

The part # stamping is the easiest way to identify what they are designed to fit. I think VL is is the stamping for A Body arms

At that point you still need to know whether you want tabs or not and if they need to be early 67-72 or 73-up LCA's...

the sway bar tab changed by the year on all bodies.

Up to 69 was at the outer location while since 70 changed to about the middle of the control arm

Now about if being A or B/E body is easier than you think. Look at the end of control arm shock mounting plate... the longer is A body, the shorter is B/E body

You are correct. The blasted ones are 67-72 and the painted are 73-76.

VL is indeed stamped on the side of an A body LCA.
