That's with me in it and a half tank of gas, and I don't weigh 600 pounds. It was weighed on a certified scale at the scrapyard too. It has a full interior, all metal body with the big chrome bumpers since it's a 1973. A/C car, sound deadening. It's a fat pig for an A-body.

Perfect conditions with an RPM and 850DP on it 12.0 @111, Six pack and average conditions- 13.40, maybe a 15.40 depending on how bad it bogs or spins.
There's some great running 6 packs out there but you can probably count them on both hands, I usually consider that car show stuff.

You must have some bad tuners there... I have friends that have run 11.80 and 11.75 in full street trim b-bodys w/ 440-6's and 509 cams...one swaped out the 509 for a 557 solid and dropped it to 11.70 spinning @ 119 in a 4 speed car.
the dart in question was a stock 340 "J" headed car w/ 3.55's and a 625...when I added a 750DP I got it to run 13.80. Ran out of cam around 5k.

Fwiw...fresh zero deck 440 with the 528, 830DP, 452's cut for compression mild clean up, RPM, 4.10s and a 3800 stall, 3750 lb car went 12.50's. I'd say your close or better than that imo...
That's about what I'm hoping/thinking. I had a torker w/ a 750HP but hey the 6bbl looked nice..

Jeff,
I think you are close. Our combo was the similar; gear, convertor, motor had less cam (509; I know you hate them...), 10.0-1 compression, ported steel open chamber heads, 850DP, weight was 3350 w/o driver. 12.0's in hot sticky weather; 11.70's in good air. 70 Chargers are a sled (I think the front bumper weighs as much as the rear), so weight will be a big factor.
The squish heads will help prevent detonation, but I think you are on the edge without running a little race gas when you flog it.

actually I like the 509 with the right combo. They make good HP. It will have 110 in it at the track. The car should weigh around 3800 w/ me and gas. Remember it is missing some pieces
