Using their numbers, the standard version CAN get UP TO 250 miles per charge. We know how the "can get up to" goes. But you can get a 2x motor version, and a 3x motor version CAN haul UP TO 14,000 lbs. A single motor gets 250 miles from a charge. Then a 2x motor should get 125 miles from a charge. And so a 3x motor should be able to get 83.33 miles from a charge. I suspect there is probably a speed limitation to get the full range of mileage from the charge, I wonder what that might be? 30 mph? If its 30 mph, would 60 mph cut the distance in 1/2? Rhinodart, maybe you could get from your home to the Rockford shop before you needed to sit 8 hours for the recharge.... I can see you now standing in line to get your hands on one of these babies! (We need a rolling on the floor laughing smiley) Gene The higher models will have bigger batteries. They've also found that they can get a bit more range with two motors, since they can get more regen when slowing down. The dual motors are more for acceleration and handling. In light driving, it may only use one or the other most of the time.
If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I have plenty of battery operated tools in my shop. But they all have multiple batteries so I can keep going while the discharged batteries are being recharged. The ones that don't have replaceable batteries, I have more than one - again, so that I can keep going once a battery goes dead.
A tool that I have to wait on for the battery to charge - for who knows how long while I'm stuck doing nothing with things to do - is a useless POS and of no interest to me. Even if it were free.
So...about these electric vehicles...
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

So...about these electric vehicles... Would you trade your battery powered drill for a gas powered one that lasted a little longer, but then you had to find a gas station to refill it, versus plugging in the batteries in your garage and letting them charge overnight? (to make the analogy work, you can't have a jerry can at home, unless you carry one in your car/truck as well). (Yes, a problem with analogies is that they are never perfect, so the discussion often moves to debating the analogy instead of the original point ) abetterrouteplanner.com lets you pick a car and a route, then it says how long it would take to charge along the way, and about how much it would cost. The results aren't what most people assume they are...

The results aren't what most people assume they are... Sure, I have to stop for fuel. There's a gas station at just about every exit. I'm not built to drive 8 hours non-stop. After a few hours I may want to stop for a coffee, take a leak, fill the tank, 15 minutes tops, I'm ready for another 250 miles. I'm not going to plan my route or my schedule around the shortcomings of my vehicle. That's not how it works. If I can't drive anywhere I need to go with nothing more than stopping for fuel a few times, it's useless to me. If someone gave me an electric car today, I have no idea where I could charge it any of the places I might go. Nor do I want to fool around like that during a trip. I already have a vehicle I have to stay close to home with. It's a beater worth about $400.

I already have a vehicle I have to stay close to home with. It's a beater worth about $400. pssst, that site will show you were the charging stations are. Try a Model 3 long range, and put in one of your longer trips. Newer tesla's are to the point where you only need to charge for ~20 minutes to get close to your 200-250 mile jump to the next pit stop. It's really pretty crazy. Over the summer we took a 500 mile (round trip) trip to the coast. Turns out there's a charger on the way we were planning to go. It would need to charge once on the way there for ~15 minutes, and once on on the way back. Then it turned out that the hotel we stayed at had a couple charge points, so I could have topped off overnight and reduced the return trip charging stop. Basically, it would have been way more convenient than even I thought But yes, there are still routes that if taken regularly, would be terrible with an EV. Those routes will continue to dwindle as more charge stations are installed though.

So what is the range towing a 14K lb load? Meh, campsites or hotels have power, it will be recharged overnight. Campsites with plug ins? Where the heck you camping?
