Honestly I can't wait to see Chris' car turning 9800 on the big end, kinda off topic but what type gear ratio do the Pro Stock cars use.
Brian and Jesse, you guys are ALWAYS welcome to hang out with us.
I talked to a few of the PS guys that are running the Hemi's, and although they have a clutch, their rear gear never really goes over a 5.50
My gear will be a 5.33, which should get me close to where I need to be, going through the lights. If it is too agressive down low, we will take timing out to compensate for the hard hit.
Brian, to say that the Pro Stockers are tempermental is an understatement. This motor is like a woman! Rub her the wrong way, and she gets all ticked off.
O.K., sorry for the hijack. Back to who is coming!
Hey Chris..
Is your car cert to 7.50?
Couldn't remember if you told me..
Chris..
Hi Chris! Sorry I haven't gotten back to you a little quicker, work has been crazy. Yes, my car is good to 7.50 (25.5 SFI Cert. is good till 2011) 7's or bust........

Boy, I'm sure glad I haven't dissed Fontana. I've run my best times there as well. Well, up until last weekend. Al, this is bracket race. Two day event with separate payouts for Saturday and Sunday. One entry fee, $150, that covers both days. Website says both classes, electronics and non-electronics pay $3000 to win on Saturday and $1500 to win on Sunday. Info is all the way at the bottom of the link. Autoclub Dragway

Chris,
Dinner = Good Streaking, not so much!
Car looked good in Vegas, be neat to see it stretching it's legs at Fontucky.

Ya good thing you didn`t talk bad about Fontana G bob, god forbid one expresses his personal opinions about his personal experiences. All of those cute little "parking lot" stabs just show your true character(s). Whatever.......

Dom, that wasn't meant as a jab at you at all. I just haven't had issues there. Other than, of course, wind and cold, and a slow hunk of junk. I actually had more traction issues the one time I went to Irwindale, but that's probably more setup than anything else. Was still trying to figure it out then. As if I have it figured out now.

I've got my own personal issues with Fontana, but it's not the racing surface. It's more in mgt of the track and the fact that they aren't following the original vision for the venue. It was supposed to be to get racing back off the street. But now, they've basically turned it into a corporate track. Mostly big events, only seven "street legal" dates all year. No regular bracket program. Where is the weekly, or bi-weekly bracket racing? Wednesday, or Friday, or Saturday nights? Heck, the track was moved to the north end three or four years ago to get it out of the "parking lot" and they STILL don't have lights so they can run at night. The embankment up to the railroad right-of-way would be a great place for bleachers, but spectators still have to make do with recycled high school (or maybe jr. high school) stadium bleachers. Where do all those Autoclub sponsership $$ go? I mean, it IS "Autoclub Dragway" after all. Ok, I feel better now.

I agree 100% with all of the above.
Beth, who is the new track manager, is super hard to deal with. We really miss Dave Danish (R.I.P. ) who used to run the show.
The bottom line, however, is that it is still a place to race, and a decent one at that.
Apparently, I ruffled a feather or two, but, I did not intentionally take any pokes at anyone. No need for drama, don't have time for it.
Now, where was that Chilton's book....

1. Diego & HOLLYWOOD 2. Thumperdart 3. G-Bob 4. OU812 5. B1CUDA 6. 67Charger 7. BB70Duster 8. Who's next??? Well I usually flake, but Ill try and make it out, need to get the Dust and spider off the pink work bench out in the garage... LOL.... now for my 2 cents on the tracks, I dont mind Fontana, I too know people that cant hook there, but most of them dont hook anywhere because they are leaving on a 500+ shot! LOL Irwindale is a parking lot too... It hooks awesome, but with the hard left at the end, it makes racing 2 "fast" cars near impossible, so at that point its not really a "drag race" but when it comes down to it I wish we had more "Parking lots" We had one out at Perris that wasnt great, but it kept me off Bridge St. (and some others) Carlsbad (rednecks by the sea) was crap, but Id kill to have it back... Terminal Island is gone, LACR is gone, Pomona is a waste... So livin in So Cal theres not many options... guess my point is SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PARKING LOT!!! its better than nothing... unless you like watching in your mirror for red and blue lights while you make a pass on a crappy road with no traction...

As well as being a racer at Fontana, I am part of the starting line crew. As far as having more street legal races out at the track that probably will not happen until lights go in. They are in the works but the way the economy is who knows exactly when. With Fontana being the only 1/4 mile track in Southern California besides Pomona, and so many different organizations/promoters wanting to have there racers there, only so many dates are available. Renting the track is still available, call the office at 909 429-5060, they get several people calling to do this so please be patient. As far as the drag strip closing in two years, fat chance. There are several future plans that are being planned; lights, permanent bathrooms, new tower and more. Anyway, glad to see that a lot of you guys will be coming out there for the big bracket race. Since I am still working on my Belvedere I will probably be racing my 57 Chevy P/U. Maybe I will run my old man's 71 Satellite though. See you all there!
