Truer words have never been spoken!!!

I’d start out with a 5500rpm shift point, and after you have some decent consistency...... try upping it a couple hundred and see what happens.
I’d be pretty surprised if your combo responded favorably to 6000rpm shifts....... but that’s why you test.

What’s the basic engine combo again?
Header size, carb, etc as well.

400/512
10.25 CR
.507”/.510 240°/246° hft 110cl in at 105°
Unported stealth heads
Rpm intake
Sniper efi & timing
Tiny 1 5.8” shorty headers, 3” collectors, 3.5” dual mufflers (swap meet bargains)
727 tf2 kit
B&M 2400 stall
3.21 gear 9.25” sure grip
27.25”ish tire

Street build with some compromises for packaging for sure. I figure the headers should be the choke point but the axle ratio and small advanced cam plus standard port heads on a stroker all point to a street build. Trying to be a sensible adult but big headers, trick flow or bigger heads, and roller cams are soo tempting.

You'll be fine with that combination. Those headers won't keep you from making 600 HP, if that's what you want. Just a bit harder to get there.

That combo will never need to see 6000.

Should live a long happy life.

Who wants to see more shady math?!

I fired up my laptop that usually lives at work and looked up my last run on the datalogger. My max fuel flow was 265 lb/hr which converts to 162.6 liters per hour. I plugged that in to an online fuel pump calculator (‘raceworks’ website) and it says that fuel flow supports 465hp. When I did the math to find horsepower based on the dyno torque reading at the end of my last run it spat out 466hp.

I have no idea how much efficiency the fuel consumption calculator is assuming but the #s lining up is veeerrrry interesting.

I can't tell you how may racers I know that had fuel delivery issues, not pressure issues tsk, but once they fix it they went a lot faster up work
It takes fuel and air to make HP whistling Correct, work

Very mild street 505 w/hyd cam.......

494hp(uncorrected) with 222lbs/hr

Time to get it on the scales to see if you can fuzzy math it into the 10’s smoke

Well based on the responses on my shock absorber upgrade thread I’m probably looking at an extra second or more added to an ideal dead hook 60’ so the fuzzy math should probably need to predict a high 8 second pass so I can add the poor launch back in for a low 10 hahaha.

And while I’m predicting things based on heresay and fuzzy numbers I’m gonna go ahead and say 3600lbs with me in the driver’s seat wearing lightweight no-show socks. We’ll have to fudge that down to around 1750lbs to get my ET in a competitive range.

But I’m for sure the fastest 1954 dodge pickup in my neighborhood.
