I must say this thread is entertaining, and kind of fun to watch. You can just feel the love and the warm fuzzies that emulate from everyone. It warms the cockles of your heart.

Seriously, there are so many good cars and sharp guys out there that it might be fun to see a big time "grudge" match at one of the NSS races, especially at BSD. It is obvious that Chris and the 422 guys still harbor warm feelings toward each other.....maybe the place to settle it is on the track. Throw Poppa J and the rest in there, too. I have alot of respect for all of you, it would be fun to watch.

Meanwhile, I'll still run my high tens, and let all of you try to run me down.
Best to all.

I'll keep shooting for that 11.0000000000000 myself!! Catch me if you can!

Thanks Bob!! That means a great deal coming from you!! I feel exactly the same way. Thats why I'm a "Ford Guy" posting on a Mopar site. If I had Bill Gates money I'd have several of them all. My heros include Strickler, Sox, and Faubel along with Bonner, Ritchey and Brannan. The era from '60-'68 was the best for SS/AFX cars in my book.

I have to second Bob's opinion, Jody.

Although I am a HARD CORE MoPar guy, I have always had a liking for those 66-67 Fairlanes. I wish there were more of them around.

Yours is exceptionally good looking, and runs very well to boot.

See you guys at MD.

Absolutely, some great cars.We need to appreciate everyones cars and their efforts to keep the heritage of them and the sport alive.Though we might not all agree with each others comments and opinions,we realize how lucky we are to be able to be in the position to discuss our thoughts and experiences.A lot of information either good or bad gets tossed around and makes the conversations interesting and even stimulating making for interesting debates. To do it and remains respectful of each other speaks volumes for the type of people we share our sport with.

Thanks again guys. Here is a shot of my dad and I at Maple Grove last fall. Dad's car is a '67 Comet 202 and has been 9.65. Dad is 67 years old and builds the best FE around in my opinion. He has building them since '61 when he ran SS with a Starliner.

Well this should at least clear up the Chrysler Vs Chevy and Ford. Should apply to AFX cars

I think we all agree that this is a fun class to race in...I my eyes it is just hard to find the fine line of what to far is. I see some of these cars with suspension that has not been touched in 20-30 years with 500+ cu.in. motors...in my opinion is dangerous. It is an index race anyway, why pick so much...If it looks like a duck it must be a duck???

Exactly right, its an index class. I know personally my car probably has some et left in it. Its the same rear gear that i had with the small motor, the converter probably needs to be loosened up a little, but in a class that is just dial in, why spend thousands chasing a couple tenths. Its really a waste of time and money. Lets get SSR a burger king crown for the fastest blue wedge motored car on the east coast, and let this thread die. This reminds me of reading on of eddie millers fastest street car posts

thanks so lets go talk about some more whats it gonna run or i broke my 8-3/4 again.
whats your problem? this is a fantastic post which i dont think has ever been posted before, and nobodys talking about bracket racing.we are talking about mph and ET.
some of you guys just dont get it!
do you realize how hard it is to get these heavy cars to get into the low 9's and high 8's.
its a feat and a challenge and yes maybe bragging rights but who on here doesnt always want to go faster. i think pretty much everyone.
its easy to go 11.00's and 12.00's and be consistent but try it with a low 9 second car on a 10.5 tire.

OK! I surrender!!!

You guys are faster than me!!! You work harder at it than I want to, and you spend more!!! I admit it!!

I admire your effort, I really, really, do. But, in the end, if I'm dialed 10.70, and you are dialed 8.80, you've still got to chase me down. Your four link, CNC aluminum headed 550 incher has no advantage over my old, leaf sprung, iron headed 426 inch Hemi with NASCAR rods and other old style parts.

It is a fantastic post, as it gets everyone talking about these cars. I never get tired of talking about them, or watching them. You guys with the real fast ones are admirable. But, I also think the other guys, with the more "traditional" types are just as admirable.

The beauty of this class is that it gives everyone who is into those cars a place to race. I luv 'em all.....from 12 second maxies, Fairlanes and 409's to the 8 second, $30K 572 inch Hemis. In my case, it gives this old guy a place to race against others of his ilk.....I don't have to spend all of my retirement (what's left of it, anyway), and I can use all of the antique parts I have had sitting around for years (which I do!) and get out there and show the folks how we used to do it. What is cool that among us old, balding, half blind soft-in-the-middle geezers there are youngsters getting into it and and enjoying these old cars. Even more cool is the fact that there are a lot of spectators who enjoy watching us do it!!

Let's not take this, or ourselves, too seriously. Let's race and have fun.

The nice part about this class is you can have an almost stock wedge and can win dialed in at 12.50..or you can build a 600cu.in. motor and run high 8's...Still usally there are less that fifty cars in this class you don't have to wade through 200+ cars to win like you do in Pro eliminator...Without this class thats the class we would all have to run...

I have been within .08 of your best pass on a 10.5 tire, through the mufflers, on my first hit with this combo. I even have the all powerful youtube vid to back it up as evidence, so i know how hard it is to do. what i don't like about this post is the picking apart of the NSS cars that have been faster, and demanding evidence. I have seen most of the cars mentioned above run, and they do run the number. I think we both have quick cars, but fastest NSS car in the country, im thinkin not.

whats your problem? no ones demanding anything, this is a harmless post about knowing what cars go 8 seconds, im not saying i am the fastest in the country, but i want to see apples to apples.
your bent out of shape for another reason.
yes your .08 slower than my wedege
my hemi is pump gas and will go just as fast as yours in another week, but who gives a rats tail!
i never heard of these 8 second cars before and i am being educated about them.im from the east and never saw any of them race before.
who's picking apart the NSS cars?
calm down your a little out of control here.
this is supposed to be fun.
