Great replies guys, I am learning a lot.
My first reaction is that I am uncomfortable with screwing only one side. But I see that having a bead lock on only one side is very common. I would like to put this to bed and not have to switch tires back and forth or dismount and re-glue or re-balance. And the only sure way is to screw the darned tires to the rims.
So, what is the consensus here? Is it okay to only screw the back side of my tires?

I use to mark my radial drag tires tires with a small dab of shoe polish on the tire by the tire stem, once it moved a inch or two I would swap the rims from side to side to move them back Most of them would take a set after swapping sides several times and not move anymore I was running 18+ Lbs. also with no glue or rim screws either, 3450 Lbs. running mid to low 1.40 sixty foot times I had to add rim screws on the bias tires though This is exactly what I did. I switched to radials and had the same issue with the tires spinning on the rim, well one tire. Cab gave me the same advise and it worked as described. But these Drag Radials are directional . If you tire is only moving say 1/2" per run I would not worry about it, your not going to get a better 60' .

I know that the tire companies don't recommend screwing radials. And that the tires say 'Not For Hiway Use'. And that you are not supposed to mix radial and bias ply tires. And that you shouldn't run slicks on the street. And like I said, I am a little concerned about only screwing one side. But just like running a spool on the street and many other no-nos, most of us (myself included) have done at least some of this stuff for years with no problems.
I do not want to throw caution to the wind, but to be honest I trust my peer's real world experiences more that I trust a corporation's lawyered-up recommendations. I don't think it is a stretch to say that a tire company will err on the side of their legal safety even if there is little to no real problem. Which is why I am asking you for your real world experiences.
Does anyone here have experience, good or bad, with screwing (or clamping) one side of their tires, particularly Drag Radials?

Just glue them. It works. It only costs you a can of Permetex. Trust me if it didn't work I would risk running tubes. I won't use something that doesn't allow me a good chance to win. Don't need failures when I'm far from home. Doug

Glue them. I would never put screws on only one side. Beadlocking one side is a different ballgame.

The glue may just be the ticket and I am going to try that. But please explain to me why clamping one side of the tire is acceptable, but screwing one side of the tire is not. Not trying to start a pi$$ing match, I am just curious what the difference would be.

Didn’t read through all reply’s, so my apologies if this is redundant: when using high-tack (or any contact adhesive) you have to put it on BOTH surfaces (wheel and tire beads), then let it dry. Once it is dry to the touch, mount the tire. Contact adhesive sticks to the surface it is applied to when wet, then to itself when dry.

Well it looks like over on the 'Bullet, this has been beat to death over the years. Tons of posts, most of which prefer the High Tack. I am going that route and rather than use clip-on weights this time, I am going to try some of the balance beads. Some like them and some don't. But if they will work, it will solve my issue even if the High tack doesn't hold the tire in place.
And I will use the High Tack on both surfaces and let it set up before assembly. Good advice.

Been using high tack for years. I used to mark them and see if they moved any but after several years of never moving I dont worry about it anymore.

Not trying to start a pi$$ing match, I am just curious what the difference would be. If the tire slips in the rim w/ only one side screwed, the screws will destroy the tire. They don't hold as well or evenly as a bead lock, which pinches the entire bead area. Screws need to be on both sides.
