I have always been into big blocks, strokers and such. Strong small blocks are awesome, always wanted a Gen II hemi, and have been diving into the Gen III world. I bet most of you guys feel the same about the older mopar engines.
My question is what do you guys ( racers, street/strip guys, etc) think of the Gen III engine? Most of the swaps I see are for relatively stock engines, but what about the highly modified engines? Are you impressed with the capabilities that they have shown in an older Mopar, or do you think it is wrong? The gen III is our LS, just want an opinion on what the rest of Moparts thinks.

Mopar really dropped the ball on the gen3 hemis. This doesn’t go with that and that doesn’t go with this. I laugh when I see guys buying and selling only to buy again. You gotta be a nasa scientists to figure it all out and in the end most are still slower than 40 year old technology. I’ll pass but I may buy your old school junk. Lol 😂

I don't know if impress is the right word, more so intrigued. Its capable of making serious power, but isn't capable (yet) of being enough cubes to make really big power NA.
Its a well designed modern engine. Part of its lure to me, similar to LS stuff, is boosting it with its existing EFI setup. Of course just like the old stuff you have to pay a Chrysler tax and its hard to get parts...
I don't like Gen III Hemi stuff in pre mid 70s stuff, same for LS stuff in the GMs.

Dude MSD Hemi 6 with a intake and Carb or carbs. Set the timing with a laptop and forget it. You will never need to touch it again. I like them, but I see a lot of 1000hp "builds" and they run in the 10's. I know the current cars are heavy, but dang. I think part of it too for me is the fuel injection and tuning with a laptop. I know there are ways around that, but I am apprehensive.

Yeah that's the thing with newer builds, lots of 1000 hp dyno queens. Take a look at the more serious HC/Demon guys and you'll see legit et's matching hp claims. The ingredients are there for a high HP NA build but no ones done it yet

Ohhhh ya and the old stuff keeps getting cheaper for me to buy. The Gen3’s are almost as fun beating at the track as the LS Chevy junk.

I have sold most of my smallblock stuff and I'm almost ready for the dyno on my gen3 project. So yeah I'm drinking the Koolaid.

I like them. At my former job we had a few opportunities to do all kinds of stuff, and blah blah blah. It was a weird and exciting time.
Years ago I posted something like "just about anywhere a small block would go, on wherever you would expect to see a small block... if you want to do a gen 3, you can". I still kinda feel that way.
Do I want to see one under the hood of my 69 B body? Nope. I chose the B/RB engine family a long time ago.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't be open to it in some other future project. I have three of them...two in drivers/workhorses, and one that I rebuilt stock, other than a mild cam, painted turquoise, and threw in the corner. because you never know what might come along.

I think it's the way to go if we want to keep Mopar on the map. I have a small block stroker in my 68 Cuda that I'm plotting a future Gen 3 for with a roots type of blower.
