I passed by one of the Street Demon carbs at Summit last night. It brought back memories of the TQ on my 74 Road Runner. That thing lived up to its legacy and produced that legendary sound when the back half opened up.
The Street Demon has a similar air door arrangement over a large secondary but they're not quite the same size as the original TQ or Quadrajet. Do the still produce the same induction sound or has that been lost to the ages?

IDK for sure Feets but I had the big TQ on a 440 in a 4X4 Ramcharger and it was cop car sound heaven! I doubt anything else has that tiny primary/massive secondary to reproduce that sound.

None of the Street Demons that I have installed have had the sound that you are referring to. But there was very little left stock about the combos that I have put them on. Different cams, intakes, air cleaners, headers, timing, etc. So I don't know what the Street Demons would sound like on something closer to original stock.

Master, again and still

I have a 625 Street demon on my Power Wagon. Pretty much a stock 360 except for the carb and performer intake. It does have the big air gulping sound when the secondaries open, but I do admit, it's not as loud as a TQ. Perhaps it's due to the smaller cfm?

Shoot, I had a lady grab her little boy by the collar and fling him back away from the curb. Wasn't burning rubber, wasn't speeding, just gave gave it a momentary BUH-WAH....and the kid was sent flying.

One of the best reactions I ever got. devil

Maybe it was the same lady? work laugh2

Was it in Pflugerville?

I think I will get a TQ and put it on the Cuda just for the sound effects.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, feets. up
2nd 340 I had was from a '71 Duster. Even after all the mods I did on it, the TQ remained. Still my favorite carb. And if I ever get around to building another hot rod, it will have a TQ on it. biggrin

Little something for those who don't know the wail of a TQ. boogie

You can hear the TQ in the background when the sheriff floors it.
