Ok, so I've done a lot of thinking about the brakes on my 1971 Challenger. It currently has stock 10.95" Disk Brakes on it. For what I'm going to do I am upgrading. Reading through some of the old Chrysler Manuals and odds and ends, I've come up with a hodgepodge of brake parts I think will work pretty well. 73-76 A-body Disk Brake Spindles 78 Dodge Monaco (B-body) Cop Car 11.75 pin style caliper mounts 78 HD Disk Brake Rotors 71 Disk Brake Calipers With this I think I should get the benefits of the pin style brakes, but with the larger 11.75" rotors, for not a lot of money. What do you think?

since you're just updating the stock brake system, it can get a wee bit easier if your ball joints are in good shape.
Take your new pin type caliper adapters, and the late B-rotor.
Don't swap spindles, buy the bearing spacer from dr. diff. Now you don't need to pop the upper ball joint and the swap can be done in the time it takes to do a brake job. The only caveat is that the 71 dust shield won't work with the late B brakes. (this would be true even if you swapped spindles.
This is what I did on my 71 challenger and put hundreds of trouble free miles and several dozen autocross laps with no issue.

I recently completed my 11.75 swap (keeping the pin calipers, and replacing the caliper brackets as needed). I also swapped to the A-body spindles with the larger bearings... in retrospect, I should have just purchased the Dr Diff sleeves... and saved $$$ and time.
Car is not yet driving pending new engine in the works.

As for the reliability and durability of the smaller bearings, I wouldn't be concerned as I've raced very hard for 30+ years of actual competition pylon autocrossing (SCCA, etc), as well as recent years of very hard hi-speed road course events (HSAX/HPDE). When I've just now taken the old small bearings out, they still looked excellent and didn't have any problems.
The larger bearings are perhaps better for extended durability, but I've had no problems with the smaller bearings from very hard racing (AX/HSAX/HPDE)/driving.

My questions My son's cuda had drum brakes on front. Switching over to disc. I found a set of spindles but don't what they came off. They have the 11" rotors on them now. Have a pair of pin style brackets, but with only one slider style bracket. I see Dr. Diff sell brackets, so i can sell the pair of pins and one slider bracket and buy a new pair of slider brackets. Am i thinking correctly with buying slider brackets and calipers for easier installation. I also see he sells drilled /slotted rotors unless we can buy they cheaper elsewhere?? What can i do with the old drums, spindles etc??
Thanks

Anyone know of a set of pin type brackets around at a price that’s reasonably fair?? Pin type brackets are scrap around here so basically free. I threw about 50 lbs of them away recently when cleaning out my shop.
