So, I have to replace the steel back half on the Cuda. But I'm also thinking of going late model. Will cost me about the same either way. Don't look at the butt ugly scoop.

I think the new car just makes more sense in this application.

The newer bodies def have some advantages. More room for sure, but like the others I'm just to into the old school cars

So far, the results are pretty much split down the middle. I find that interesting. I had the same results asking coworkers at the dealership. I sure wish I had the money, room and time to support 2 cars. If nothing else, I might just build up both bodies and make them interchangeable.

Should have sold the cuda to a resto guy like I mentioned to you years ago if you were gonna go this route.
Like I also said before, the new crap is everywhere and just blends in. Keep the cuda.

In a few years the new stuff will look dated, the old stuff will still be "classic". Also how can you pi$$ off the restoration guys if you build with new metal?

I'm wondering why the steel roof and quarters need to be replaced?

Isn't the wheelbase a good bit longer on the new challengers anyway? The old ones were longer too.

The old B,E, and A body Dodge and Plymouth all had different length wheelbases on them, 108 on Plymouth A bodies, 110 inches on Dodges A bodies, same lengths on the E bodies. 115 or 116 on Plymouth B bodies and 117 and 119 on some of the Dodge B bodies is what I remember now shruggy
I like the old school cars because they where and are what I owned and race starting in 1964 boogie grin realcrazy

If you use the new body just have to make sure it's faster than the internets Hellcats. Lol

Have a great day

hasn't it been a pretty well worn path to build a serious race car out of a modern car (for many types of class racing) but then have your classic toys? If you can only have 1 car, then you have to choose I guess. Real 1st world problem smile

New Challenger, to me, driving it has always "felt" much more like a
B body and I believe that is one of the reasons why.

Can't say whether that's positive or negative, it's in the eye of the beholder....

New ones are too slab sided. Old cars have better proportions.

I own both, new & old. One of each & I would definitely go with the Cuda. New Challengers are everywhere....

I vote...depends.

Which can be made lighter, since I'm anal about weight? I like the new stuff OK, but I really like the chrome bumper, flat hood look. If I were doing a new Challenger body, I would slide the rear axle forward 6" or so after playing with mockup illustrations to see what works best. That would help weight distribution and make the car look better IMO. The proportions just never looked "right" to me. If the rules wouldn't let me do that, I'd likely go old school.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Why not use what you already own? Not to mention the wheelbase isn't even close.
