I sure hope so, I really think this will help drive the cost down on some of the other motor offerings from Mopar. the more options the better the costs will be.
Thank you Kiddart

And It's only going to get better for the G3 people , very soon. How so? Affordability seems to be the big problem with G3 stuff. While impressive, $25-30k(??) is going the wrong way. Lol.

Agreed, the HP/$ is great but still out of my league. $5,000-$6,000 for a used/questionable 392 isn't that great either. That said, I spent plenty of money on other parts of my car, if HP was my main goal, I could have went a different direction than my free 5.7L.

Don't buy a used 392 for 6k , most those people selling those are just marking up the part because they think it's gold.
SRT 392 Short block from FCA part No 68223196AB , is any where from 2970(+250 core charge)to 3500 including core.
last 2 quick builds I did were short block 68223196AB $2900,+ a set of Eagle heads (53021608DF $325 each) swap valve springs over to Psi 1515 (265 from speedlogix) Comp cams 270 VVt ($685---yes cams are too F--ing expensive. Ritter Drag pak from MMX for $700 (short version) Comp pushrods $120 Short Block= $2900 Heads + vavle springs $1000 Cam $685 ATI 918487 Damper $379
5k out the door not including my labor($500) and shipping. yes they need to buy their own front cover($50-250) and oil pan ($50-500).
there are a lot of good new parts coming down the line for these engines. as the market gets bigger the prices with come down.

That's awesome. I would really like to build another 392/46/440 Gen 3 for my Scatpack(maybe boosted), but I don't have $20k to spend on my toys at a time, sadly. Affordable stuff would have me sticking a Gen 3 in all kinds of cars, trucks, Ramchargers, etc.

I am curious what the price point of this engine will be and if the super charger still needs a cooler hooked to it. If its fair enough, I might go this route. Could be a 605 Hemi in sombody else's future for the right price.

Ric3xrt, I looked up the Eagle head part number you have listed and it says that it is "partially machined." Do you know the part number for the Eagle heads that come with valves and springs that are ready to bolt on?

53021616DE and 53021616DF were the old part #s and are not listed any more on the "mopar" parts pages IE Eastcoastmoparts Steve White parts they have been replaced with the 53021608DF (right)53021608DE (left) these #s are shown as replacing 53021608DD, 53021608DE, RL021608DD, RL021608DE,
53021616DE and 53021616DF part number heads are all over E-bay Rock auto shows RL021608DE as partial head , no valves and valves springs. I buy from both Ebay and my local dodge guy.

Could be a 605 Hemi in somebody else's future for the right price. 6.1 block? Shoot for 1/2 or less you can get a hellcat block (just tell the guy at the JY its a 6.4 truck block your after), I paid $700 for a like new block and crank shipped to my shop, I got a bigger bore and stronger proven block and crank. A good cam is available new from the dealer for $68 that's ok for most street type builds, I got a set of new take out SRT pistons and rods for $150 shipped off flea bay (not good for much boost though). For around $1000 minus my labor I am into a short block that can easily handle 600 NA HP. With a little street smarts the long block stuff is really good for really cheap, the only stuff that seems to not have a work around is the initial "get it in the car stuff", headers are $1000, motor mounts, oil pans... are all one time things that aren't cheap.

I picked up a 6.1 long block with a spun bearing last month... under 750 total including freight. I've seen some other good deals on them on ebay also. Just need to look at the right time.

I want to buy a Jeep core 6.1 litre to build for my Jeep so I can do a total pullout and put back in with a spare motor without doing a bunch of accessory swap over. Everyone wants stupid money for used 6.1 litre motors, even high mileage ones. I can almost buy a complete running srt charger for what people want for a used Jeep 6.1. Get yourself a 5.7 and stroke a 6.4 crank to 3.79. cheaper with better parts. IMO and this is just me 6.1 are overrated. Lots of core shift. Stick with a 5.7 and stroke it. If its for a street engine the early 5.7 heads are plenty to feed the additional cubes. Matt

Rockers/shafts/etc? Valve covers? I don’t know what he spent, but I can tell you what I found in the used market. My rockers were included with my Eagle heads, but quickly found another set on a g3 board for $175 shafts included for spares. They were in mint condition. Are they all out race parts? No, but many have used oe rockers in the 600hp arena with moderate spring pressures. Best practice seems to be the addition of aftermarket hold downs and shaft collars for $350-ish. Valve cover prices baffle me, though. New OE, or aftermarket are stupid expensive. But with patience, deals are out there. I found a perfect pair on this board that cost me $150.

How about it, I had a guy give me a set of those over priced Morso black covers and another guy tried to sell me stock 6.1 just the covers for $500 EACH... WHAT are people thinking , stock Eagle covers are about $120-140 each. stock rockers and shafts from FCA are about as low as $86 a piece(shaft +8 rockers) to $140ish depends on dealer.
