Easier said than done. For a guy running on a shoestring budget he can’t just run out and buy a new car. I personally would have just quit but then again after 44 years of Mopars I bleed Mopar red. The class that I loved is dead to me and will never be the same.

I raced 60 races with my hemi at times I thought we were closing the gap but the results tell me different. So after Indy I talked to Richard from Elite and asked him if he had a motor for me and that's how it went.
It's very hard to race every race and work on your engine program. We are a small team and don't have the funding to start a new engine deal so for the time being I will be running elite power.
I hope you guys understand it was a tuff decision to make.

Good luck Alan. I'm not going to beat on you for running a GM engine, I learned years ago not to judge someone unless I've walked a mile in their shoes.

Agree 100 percent on that John I know a new pro stock car is expensive so I’d sit it out

You "bleed Mopar red", but run a Powerglide in your race car?

As far as I'm concerned...it's 1985 all over again. There was pretty much one Dodge left...Reid Whisnant. When the cost outweighed the gains, Reid went to a Chevrolet and continued his career. How many of you still pulled for Darrell and Scott when they were running Eicke motors? You know, the Big Chief head that looked like it had a Chrysler valve cover, on the Merlin block?

Alan is doing something that 99.99% of us will never get to do. I cannot fault him in any way for doing what he needed to do to stay in the hunt of things.

I still love Pro Stock, and always will. It's still the epitome of doorslammer racing in my opinion. 6.50's on gasoline, with 500" and no power adders. Makes Pro Mod look pathetic in my opinion with all the extras they are granted to barely run a second quicker.

Best of luck in your career Alan!

If the Chevy PS motors are junk what does that make the Mopar PS motors? The last I saw they couldn't compete with the junk that was winning every race.

I bleed Mopar.....Blah Blah Blah.... I'd just quit.....Blah Blah Blah....Does Mopar put money in any of your guys pockets? The Guy is doing what he has to do to be competitive. Your guys "hallowed" Mopar failed him by bailing on the Pro Stock program.

Alan, thanks so much for the update. I am a Mopar guy for sure but I understand. How do you feel about the rumored 16 race deal and will you run a full time schedule next year?

Alan running that Elite setup that by the way does not have one chevy part in it is no different than Force running a Hemi design in his FC with fake chevy valve covers. When you think of it all the fuel cars are doing the same thing as PS, running under Toyota,Ford or Chevy all with Mopar design Hemi engines.

The NHRA will end up ruining that class too.

I guess it depends on how bad you want to race and actually be competitive. I understand the man's decision completely. Reality (and budgets) can be a real b1^@h sometimes.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

If the Chevy PS motors are junk what does that make the Mopar PS motors? The last I saw they couldn't compete with the junk that was winning every race.

That has been explained so many times I can't count it. Even Chris McGaha did an interview about it.

Give back carbs, hood scoops and junk the pussy rev limit and the Dodge would be more than competitive.

Right now, the only guys bitching about getting rid of the rev limit is the Chevy guys. Doesn't make me wonder. You also don't hear the GM bitching about the EFI and no hood scoops. But give the carbs and scoops back to the dodge and the GM would piss themselves dead.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Prostock always was my favorite class. Growing up, I always wished I could drive one of those..Since saying goodbye to cable, I can say I don't get to see much of it anymore.

Always loved the Dodges slugging it out, but the money has to come from somewhere and no one wants to pay tons of money to not be competitive I am sure, so it sounds like its the way of things...

It also sounds like the class as a whole seems like its in trouble. All anybody wants anymore are the power adder classes...Me, I still have Hemi power in my Cuda, and its staying that way for now.

I can say many people have told me to put a 632 chevy in my Duster for racing. We always fight to get parts and stuff when we wreck things. Its tough to get just about anything Mopar. I can't say I haven't thought about it.

I followed Alan since he jumped in the ring.I saw him in Pomona a few years back.He was fighting as hard as he could but was always a tenth or behind the Chebbies.Being a one man band on a budget he did ok.
But the way the rules are to be able to go rounds he had to switch power. I get all that but I'm hardcore MOPAR and they were overruled.........
Even with the Demons NHRA added weight and gave the others a break!

iagree
I remember Monte chastising me a few years back about race car combos. To stay competitive one needs to do what it takes or stay home. Let's be honest, the only thing "chevy" in the GM PS engine is probably the size of the crank journal and the only thing "Hemi" in the Dodge PS engine is the name on the valve covers. Pro Stock has had nothing to do with stock(factory) in a long time. twocents
