I just had to do set for a 70 vert I'm working on with new AMD glass. I used the thickest black teri cloth I could find. Was able to reuse the foam padding. Seems to work alright. This is in a high dollar resto-mod so I dought it will see alot of window action.

Has anyone tried stopping by a glass shop & seeing what the installers have... I recently did just that for my Falcon project & they had rolls of material with different types of black fur for window channels, guides & for making catwhiskers....

I've thought about designing a spring loaded replacement for this "cheesy" Chrysler designed part. This way the window would always be under compression regardless of it's position on the track. There's no way to adjust these where they are in compression at all postions of the window up / down, therefore making the glass rattle when you slam the door. Matt @ MCB www.tuffwheelrestoration.com

I believe these parts are more for additional strength for people who close the doors by the extended glass, rather than for holding it from rattling in the door. It seems that when the door is completely assembled and adjusted properly, that the belt weatherstripping holds it fairly tight from the inside and outside at the top, the mechanism doing this from the bottom, and the downstop preventing the glass from ever going below the belt weatherstripping. These felts, in addition to the felted rubber bumper on the outside are always just supporting the middle of the glass. Additionally, these felt brackets can be adjusted fairly tight due to the thickness of the felt, at least when that thickness is still there, before it's worn down.
My gut feeling after having taken every part out of the door, putting every part back in, and adjusting it properly, is that the factory did a pretty good job of engineering the window mechanisms.
