Hi all,

1971 Satellite. Something else that a previous owner hacked off. This is coming thru the firewall, below the bulkhead connector. I haven't been able to find it in the manuals I have, and can't get into the interior of the car right now to see where it's coming from. Any ideas?

Roger

The throttle cable is above that next to the bulkhead connector. Is it a cruise control car? Looks like a cable of some sort. The hood release is on the other side of the brake booster/master.

Correct, the throttle pedal lever is longer{higher up} than the hole in question..That hole is actually behind the throttle lever in action on the inside...

Is or was it a four speed car?

It originally came with cruise control, and it is an automatic.

What does it go to inside the car ???

Nothing I love more than when someone repaints the engine compartment and leaves everything that wasn't there originally in place ... ugh

running up my post count some more .

Unfortunately, I can't get inside the car right now. I'll check later today, I just thought someone might know. I'm guessing it's something to do with cruise control. I'll post it when I find out.

Yeah, bugs me too. My engine's currently out, so I'm going to try to clean up what I can.

Ok, got inside the car. Unfortunately, whomever removed it very crudely hacked it off inside. It's right above the accelerator pedal bracket, an electrical cable of some sort, still can't tell what it is:

Looks like speedometer cable.. But they are usually to the left side, not above the gas pedal. Cruise control had the cable router from the servo to speedo in the same hole as a non cruise car.

I have the same grommet on my 68 GTS. It's the tach wire.

Pull grommet out. Carefully pull remaining wire stub out. If its for the tach, the wire should be grey.

I stand corrected. I looked at a wiring diagram and the tach wire goes through the firewall via the bulkhead connector and yes, its a gray wire. 69 and earlier had a grommet/wire that went through the firewall and it was gray.

I stripped some of the outer casing away, and there are 3 wires: Black, Green and Red. Looking at the wiring diagrams on pages 8-152 & 153, I don't see anything that matches. They also look like they're cloth-wrapped.

That's some big gauge wire. Was the car a service vehicle in a previous life?

That is definitely Cruise control wires! I took some pictures of mine. They are quite heavy gauge and reduce down to very light gauge inside the cabin after the connector and up the steering column. My originals had the canvas cover on them as well, that was deteriorated out near the servo, so I replaced with a harness off a '73 (the original had a red appearing wire) like yours, the '73 had different colors but that may have been just the way they aged. The FSM shows them to be yellow, black and dark blue but they appear to be yellow, black and green. here are some pics if I can do this right.....

Pages 8-152 & 153 are for Challenger (Rallye cluster). I think you want to be back at 8-165.

Oops! yours might be different in a Plymouth manual. Mine is for the Dodge.
Never the less..... It should be the same for '71 B-bodies. twocents
