Yet people say us delay box and throttle stop guys don't do any driving. At this point with the multiple advancements in traction control the guys running those cars equipped with the latest stuff wont have much to do at all.

Do some research on the msd6 and you may find what guys are doing to cheat. The sport is getting more pathetic every year. I would rather be a loser than resort to grey areas.

The Matty Box was pretty primitive compared to what's out there now. For bracket racing and anything in NHRA, it's a no-no. But I'm not dumb enough to think no one is using it. Especially in big money bracket racing. Small tire/no prep/drag radial/ stuff, I think it's pretty much a necessity to get down the track. It's all about tire management.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Speaking of traction control, thought I heard Ryan Martin mention using it in his camaro. One of the races he lost thought he mentioned, but maybe heard wrong.

I didnt think anything like this was allowed on the track As long as they do not transmit real time data to the driver while on track, or control any throttle or brake function they are legal. A Matty Box in unmodified form was and still is also legal.

I didnt think anything like this was allowed on the track As long as they do not transmit real time data to the driver while on track, or control any throttle or brake function they are legal. A Matty Box in unmodified form was and still is also legal. What was the Matty Box if not a device to transmit information to the driver telling them if they were faster or slower than the projected number. The paperwork said it for use while testing. Well actually, I'm not going to copy it all, but in NHRA, no computers (microprocessors) allowed "that activates any function of, or in any way affects the operation of, the vehicle based on measurement, sensing, processing, etc. of any data related to the performance of the vehicle." Closed EFI systems cannot monitor wheel speed, driveshaft speed, G-force, etc. Data recorders can't control any functions. Any adjustments or tuning must be preset before pulling out of the lanes. To my knowledge, and I have just glanced at the rules, PDRA allows tire speed management in most classes except for Pro Stock. Duck X and the small tire/radial stuff all allow it. The high dollar bracket promotions do not allow it.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I belive the Holley Dominator system can do all of the above that was outlined as illegal. IT can monitor wheelspeed, driveshaft RPM and G force. In fact there are many used Racepak systems popping up for sale for that very reason. When people switch they are no longer necessary. Be interesting to see how things go when more and more bracket cars get EFI. Many TS and TD guys already use it...
I do agree with Bob it is just another tool in the box, and for the heads up guys a good one. But I can also see it sneaking its way into the big dollar bracket world and NHRA. Some of those tech guys struggle with current legal parts as it is.

Yeah I am not real sure how they can police the EFI stuff because it is only growing. I don't know about Holley but my Megasquirt has a delay box feature built into, as well as a few kinds of traction control.

I always kinda wondered how long delay boxes were in use before there release to the public. Kinda like stealing, only different
