On the slotted tips on the 71/72 B bodies, I was wondering what would be a good cleaner to keep the inside orange part clean. Something that can cut the carbon build up.

Probably not what you want to hear but I don’t even try. I prefer mine to be a little carboned up. Tones down the bright orange/red.

Why are you getting build-up on the inserts???

I eliminated the 'flange' internally up at the front of the slots that gets eaten-up over time on the OEM tips...

After 20 years of road time, nothing on mine other than some occasional 'dust', which hoses right off when I wash the car...

For clean-up, scrubbing bubbles, or some spray household de-greaser...

I use Nev-R-Dull on the chrome...

My car has build up on the inside as well as the outside of the orange painted insert. This is from years of driving before I bought the car. Have yet to find anything that easily takes it off.
